The terrorists win when they bring a plane down. Security is inconvenient but it's a price we need to pay.
The terrorists are not winning, what they want is our troops out of afghanistan and iraq, All of palastine back and nono complient unbelievers dead, so i seriously don't think that bin laden's going to be sitting in his cave saying to his Audience "Well they're still in Afghanistan and Iraq, the jews are still in palestine and sin and debauchery are rife on a global scale, but at least we've made their airport check in an extra 5 mins! lol. I dont mind that xray body scanner and some extra security measures to be safer in the air, yeah it knocks 5-10 mins off my bar time, but hey, we got to sacrifice!

Zacs, but what about that guy the other day that attempted to kll that saudi prince i think that had the explosives plugged up his behind, is this the new way because im pretty sure that you can get enough explosives and the fuse right up there and im sure this cant be seen by the scanner!
I dont mind a quick pat down but I do object to a dog sniffing my boll@cks ;-)
Dustypuss, If you've been with a dodgy woman the night before then id have a wash before boarding any planes!

they've already got this see-you-naked scanning, so this may give them justification for using it

Shame, all those years they've been X-raying my shoes and there was nothing there; they should have been checking my knickers.

But yes, you're right, we've become a much more totalitarian society in the last decade - shoe X-rays, CCTV cameras, ID cards, the lot. Many people may feel this is worth it. People in the security industry certainly will. I'm not so sure myself.

I haven't but according to the news they've been searching everything, unwrapping Xmas presents etc
I would love to see someone answer 'Oh it's nothing, just a present, you know, an alarm clock and a tube of toothpaste' to "What is in the presents sir/madam?".
There's no way that they can force you NOT to go to the toilet in the last hour of a flight. What about older women who can't hold their pee once they feel like going, and what if you get the urge for a No. 2? I don't know about the rest of you but I do NOT have set times for poos!
What's the point of making passengers remain seated for an hour before landing? A suicide bomber could assemble the bomb just after take off and, if it worked, the plane would crash into the Atlantic.

predictably the old "Safe than sorry" mob above miss he point. Terrorism is not about the minor itch of bombs and bullets, it's about what we change in our own lives through fear. Many draconian laws have been passed since 9/11 etc, these are loved by politicians who love to control. The whole airport thing just gives power to the little hitlers at airports to abuse and humiliate in the name of "security".

You make a point there Geezer; but, if searches are not carried out how will 'they' know who's hiding anything that illegal or unlawful?

We need to turn it on it's head by discouraging terrorism properly.
