A multi-millionaire breaks a small bone in his foot which will inconvience him for a few weeks, and the country goes to pieces. Does anyone else think that there are slightly more pressing things going on that newspapers could report - such as the fact we're going to be dragged into a war we don't want to be part of?

Oh yes. Football in general is a matter of supreme indifference to me, and during my time in Manchester I was inconvenienced often enough by Beckham induced crowds ("oh look, he's having his hair cut! Lets mill around outside Toni and Guy like a bunch of confused wildebeeste") that I personally would not micturate on him or his wife if they spontaneously combusted in front of me. Of course the government is very careful to manage news re the possible iraq conflict so that little is heard in the press. Been a bad week for news priorities in my book. Wall to wall dead queens and injured twinkletoeses, very little news.
Middle East what? What Queen? haven't you heard - DAVID BECKHAM HAS A BOO-BOO!
Woo hoo! Inky has found a way to get past the Answerbank censors. Micturate indeed!
I was thinking the same as Cynthia; Incitatus, did you study Latin or how did you come across micturate?
You're missing the point H. It's not david Beckham anyone cares about. Well, not him personally anyway. It's what he means. People who like watching football get a real kick out of it and everything's hotting up for the cup finals and the world cup. David Beckham is essential to the success of ManU and it's known that he has made a big difference to the English world cup squad - really lifting their morale and so on. Without him, both teams are more likely to lose. All these football fans have been workign up to the important matches because there's a hope of success, which adds to the enjoyment. Without Becky-boy, there's less anticipation, less reason to watch with optimism. It's themselves they care about, these football fans, and their enjoyment of the game, not the man with the golden foot.
Maybe the football fans will now have to get lives? First came across micturate in a Monty Python sketch....good word.
