Jailed for just 5years, (but only served half of it), upon release given £4,500 and a free flight home, for brutality killing a 17 month innocent little baby.

This could only happen in Brown's New Labour Britain, supported by Europe's Human Rights laws.

It's sticks in the throat a little, but, you're making the assumption that the offender will just cheerfully go back without resistance or encouragement to remain.
This system is about cost to the tax payer, £4500 and wave goodbye or £10,000 and counting to try and get rid.
The problem with it, that I see, is that it could act as an incentive to arrive, £4500 in Malaysia will equate to a good years wages in Malaysia it equals over 2 years wages in China, and I mean decent wages that you could live quite nicely on.

/// Well at least us taxpayers won't be forking out for her time in jail here.////

We already have for the last two and a half years.
The sentence she was given was a complete disgrace, and I don't see why she should have been given anything except a hefty boot up the nether regions onto a flight back to where she came from.
Afraid it's just the norm in this stupid Country now. Tip of the iceberg, maybe regarding other scandals, as this won't be a one-off.
She will probably come back when the 4.5 k is banked.

Bringing a few mates with her no doubt.

Oh Zeuhl why do I keep agreeing with you! ;o)

According to that report, the authorities are unsure whether she entered the country legally or illegally, which in itself is unsurprising. I think in either case, for a crime of this severity, appeal against deportation shouldn't be an option, and her repatriation should cost us nothing except the price of a plane ticket. On the day she was released from prison, she should have been taken straight to the airport and put on a flight back to where she came from. Yes, I know - Human Rights - but in these circumstances, Human Rights are wrong - in my opinion.

I don't think there should be any question of objection, Zeuhl. In my opinion she gave up her rights when she murdered that child.

It would never surprise me if her early release was to save money. It seems money often takes precedence over justice these days.
