Can anyone tell me as i write this why the BBC have Bush at 238 & Kerry at 195 yet over in ITV they have Bush at 219 & Kerry at 206.Surely both should be the same results?.

They are not results; they are projections/ predictions.  The final results will not be ready until all the polling stations have counted, and all the postal votes have come in.  This always takes several days or weeks.  The results (e.g. on www.bbc.co.uk/news) always say "based on 97% of precincts reporting" or whatever.
