Why is it so newsworthy that Prince Harry lost his temper with the Paparrazi today!  Should this really be the main news item of the day?

*GAB* Fakeplastic I'm sure Bernardo will have something to say on the subject. It's news because it's Prince Harry and he's out on the tiles.

Well for

1 he is a prince and it is quite possible in his lifetime that he will be king..

2. It highlights the constant pressure/exposure that he is subjected to ( though we wouldn't be aware of this incident if it hadn't been for the same!!)

3. Lack of security ????

4. And the paparazzis' presence and probable partial contributory cause of the car crash that killed his mother...

5. Stories about H. sells papers.....

GAB and TTML and OVS FP and AB

  • Because he's a royal
  • Because he's gorgeous
  • Because he was heroically defending himself against being crushed to death
  • Because he is fearless and gutsy and strong enough to be able to defend himself, rather than collapsing into a wimpy pile of tears like many other people would have done
the press guy who got hit deserved it,anyone daunting somebody about being an exam cheat should be prosecuted.the press in england stinks!!their self-righteous pompous bar***rds.
The Paparazzi are unadulterated scumbags - shoving a camera into the face of somebody who craves fame is one thing, but Harry is famous through an accident of birth and therefore does not deserve to be abused in this manner.
Because its a slow news day

Personally, I don't see anything newsworthy in this event at all.  I think it's so sad  that such as issue is made out of it, especially for Prince Harry!

Can anyone tell me the difference between the paparazzi and the 'ordinary' press, if there is any!  I honestly don't know.

In my opinion ALL parties involved in this incident are parasites!
Apparently the journalists think that if any other teenager/20-something coming out of a nightclub in a drunken state at 3am, and threw a punch at someone who taunted them, they would be arrested.  PH wasn't arrested, so its a bog hoo ha.  I think that paparazzi are lowlife parasites - always trying to get the worst out of someone, but we are all guilty of fuelling their greed by buying crap such as, Heat, The Sun etc.

I'd be more interested to know who advised him that it would be OK, if he wishes to avoid press attention, to be frequenting one of the highest-profile celebrity nightclubs in the country!

He is 20 years old for goodness sake, why should someone have to give him permission to go to a nightclub?  And why not a high-profile one.  At that age my mum & dad often used to tell me not to go to certain places, but I still went.

Indeed it is Newsworthy that someone who could quite easily be the monarch of the country has turned out to be a foul mouthed, drunken [edited: no unproven accusations, thank you. - AB Editor].

While I totally agree that it wouldn't happen to any other 18-25 year old in the country the simple fact is that this isn't any other person in that age group....It's someone very high on the accedance to the throne and as such his standards and morals should be set at a higher level as a guide to the rest of the country and now Neds and Chavas everywhere have a hero in a high place to look up to.

It perhaps only reinforces the viewpoint that it's long since time we got shot of the lot of the inbred dribbling no chinned fools in Buck Palace and redistributed the wealth they hoard to the poorer parts of our nation.

sft42,  couldn't agree more with everything you so eloquently put!!

The only other point made by anyone on this thread so far that I would agree with is Flanker's statement that Harry is only famous through an accident of birth - what an accident!!!

sft42: re: "Indeed it is Newsworthy that someone who could quite easily be the monarch of the country has turned out to be a foul mouthed, drunken [edited out - see above. AB Editor]."

Prince Harry is allowed to be drunk occasionally because he is young and in high-spirits and in his gap-year.  I do not know if he is "foul-mouthed", [ditto. - AB Ed]

FP: A paparazzo is a freelance photographer who often works, and sells pictures, in the international market, whereas an "ordinary" press photographer is an employee of a domestic agency or newspaper.  In terms of how they behave, the crucial difference is that ordinaries (and their newspapers) are subject to the Press Complaint Commission and are therefore careful about unwarranted or unreasonable intrusion of privacy etc., whereas the paparazzi do what they can to get the pictures which they then sell to American or French or Italian magazines (i.e. those which cannot be criticised by the PCC) for vast amounts.  Thus a paparazzo would have an incentive to provoke a situation in order to get a dramatic picture of a celebrity hitting someone, and an ordinary would have an incentive to behave reasonably.

GAB Bernardo.  Thank's for your answer.  I really didn't know the difference.
The media decide its news worthy because they are on Harry's back! It was obvious the way it was reported with no compassion. This is the beginning of another saga between the media and the Royal Family.Harry will have to be careful.Because the media don't give a damn.ITN's coverage was tabloid and a disgrace.
Its newsworthy because it still shocks the older generations who still believe that the royal family have some devine rights or powers and are supposed to be better upstanding people than the average person. It aslo entertains those others who understand that these people are just people who have a ridiciulous standing in society and too much time and money on their hands.
