ED. If you're going to lay down the law I suggest you do lay it down - in writing. With your recent actions you have been enforcing rules that aren't even there. "Do as I say, or else..." is not a site rule. (Yet.) TCL didn't break any site rules.

I've asked and answered a great number of questions to the point where I now think of My Profile as a cyber shelf of reference literature I've built up for myself over the years. The way you're presently running this site I feel I may or may not be in danger of losing it just for writing this.

I'm certainly aware that the Terms of Use grant you the right to "[...)delete any posting we feel does not conform to the intended spirit of The AnswerBank service." Only problem is, the spirit of a site should not be dependent on which side of the bed its editor got up on that particular morning. That is terror, by one of its definitions. We need to know what the rules are and then we'll each make our own decisions on whether or not to abide by them.

Two threads to which I had contributed were pulled yesterday. The way things are I have absolutely no idea whether or not it had anything, everything or nothing to do with my postings on them. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. Maybe everything I've built up will soon be lost at one fell swoop for writing this. Yes yours is the right to set the site rules, but you do need to find a way where your actions and the site rules are perceived as accordant.

The issues brought forward in this post are of general interest and they constitute a suggestion. So far there are no site rules against posting suggestions of general interest in Suggestions, which I why I trust it will not be zapped. Unless of course someone devotes half a second to posting a four-letter word as a response, in which case you, ED, will be perfectly justified in removing everything I've just written - wontcha.

Jafi
in a nutshell
the ed got on his high horse cos he felt threatened by the RCL's intellecyual atgument and decided to sweep hbim under the carpet rather than spend his precious over worked time in reasoned debate and told him he was banned from the site actually zapped gone finished dleted and unsubscribed ans basically said it was cos 95% of RCL's post were targets at the ed which is a load of garbage and so TCL is presently zapped and posting as mimping but the ed is in the dog house according to alot of abers who are not daftm ealour, desperate, seeking attention or just clique
or unable to read the keys on thier laptop : ))

The rules were broken and thats it

DTH?
I have just been reading the Site Rules again to remind myself of them! Really don't know why they bother to have rules because the most important ones are being broken all the time time and the Editor obviously doesn't give a jot!

Despite feeling pretty much the same way you (and many others) do on this subject swedeheart, I've kept a low profile until now. But, at risk of getting myself zapped too, I'm sticking my head above the parapet to say I wholeheartedly agree that the total removal of TCL's entire history on AB was unjustified.

And a note to ABEd if you're reading this...
I am a reasonable ABer, I don't cause any trouble, I try to avoid arguments and I don't tend to post anything unduly controversial. However, on this occasion I have to stand up and be counted among those who think that this situation was dealt with in an unjustifiably heavy-handed manner. Personally I think that if you felt the need to make an example of someone , then TCL was the wrong choice.

Having said that...I flipping wish I had the power to banish anyone who criticises me!
Aprilis you are a man amongst men, (cept you are a girly girl but u know what i mean)

I support TCL 100% as I think is well known. How others cannot see the rights and wrongs of this debacle amazes me!
