Well I was a bit shocked, another act of mindless vandalism it would seem. Not sure I 'care' though, although I can imagine a lot of local people will be upset, it was a lovely little place in its heyday.
I can imagine the locals are secretly pleased. Wasn't it derelict? And more than likely an eyesore anyway.
I can't imagine the owners who paid 500,000 for it last year and didn't bother insuring it are happy about it all.
However, the owners will now be able to get on with their development plans for this area ( multi-million.........) withoutthe hindrance of an old fashioned and difficult pier to incorporate...............

One of the owners was on the news explaining how it was uninsured to deflect any levelling of 'insurance fraud' accusations.............

A building he owned elsewhere burnt to the ground after suffering difficult Planning issues....................he cleared the site and built a brand new restaurant - NO Planning difficulties there...............:o)

Personally I think it's a shame when any pier is destroyed (Weston-Super-Mares pier had the same fate only a few weeks ago). I think they are lovely structures and that our seaside wouldn't be as nice without them.
