Sainsbury's has announced that its workers are to get a share of their profits, with each employee expected to receive around 200.

One lucky employee however, will receive around 6.5 million and that is the employee who decides how the profits will be shared out.

If I were a Sainsbury's employee, at the next management/employee symposium, I would be asking if Sainsbury's management are taking the p!ss.

6.5 million eh? - Oh well, every little helps. Oh sorry that's Tesco isn't it. Never mind.
I'm not hugely bothered. If their new chief exec's sales strategy has brought in 2.7 billion of extra growth, he can have a 6 million bonus if he likes!
Herer we go again instead of sitting there seetihing ni jealousy get of your backside and do something with your life if thats the way you feel.
This is a real step forward for workers of sainsburys, they have been given a bonus which in weekly terms allows them to buy a pint of mild and a packet of pork scratchings.

Thank god for the abolition of the class society
Sometimes bonuses can be obscene, and it's ridiculous to see fat cats being paid enormous bonuses if their company is going down the tubes and laying off a load of people. However, when the company is recording record profits, and outstripping the competition, then it seems fair enough to be to give out a healthy bonus.
Sainsbury's shop floor workers are not bonused as far as I'm aware, it's a flat salary, so this bonus is a gift. The Chief Exec and sales team have salaries where bonus is a major part like any other sales team in the country. If you bring in such enormous profits then as far as I'm concerned, you deserve the credit. Every employee does an important role within the company, but when a checkout girl is solely responsible for managing a mutli-billion pound profit and doesn't get bonused for it, I'll complain
I blame the public for paying their prices, which enable Sainsbury's to make such large profits.
Don't shop there then if that's how you feel. I say good luck to anyone who can earn that much money. Jealousy can be ugly.

Cheers In A Pickle - that's interesting to know.

However, the fact remains that they're paid less than the executives because they do a less demanding, difficult job. I see no problem with people being bonused according to pay and stature. Now if they all got no bonus and the executives still got paid millions....
Hi,

We at sainsburys get up to 3% 'bonus' every June. 1% for each of the following, Hitting sales targets, maintaining high availability and mystery customer reports. 1% is what i will be getting so not quite 100 after tax. I may only be an online shopper but i work as hard as our dear ceo, lol

Tracey
Okay, 99% of us are probably not in the million pound a year salary year bracket.
Do we work as hard. Yes!
Is our job as important? Ye it's important, but is it as important as running the ENTIRE business strategy? No.....
Should it be bonused exactly the same? No.
When sainsburys staff didn't get their bonus of a packet of pork scatchings and a pickled egg did "lord" sainsbury forgo his annual 25 million bonus?
