I personally think it is a good thing. Now they are so affordable that every child and every pensioner will be able to own one for emergencies at least.

I think you are missing the point. Of course most children's phones are bought by their Parents.

But say you had 6 children, don't you think it would be easier for you to provide each child with one?

Well if they can afford 6 phones, why couldn't they get condoms?

Sorry, in a flippant mood after just reading a stupid post on here (not this one!), and yes, I do think it's a good idea. People like me only use mobiles for emergencies, and tho we pay a higher rate per call, that isn't really relevant at the time.
