I though Politics was a sport?
Question Author
its a random topic of debate my school put upon us. I have no idea, but any imputs to answer the question would be good
In as much as sport inevitably requires resources, land, facilities, energy etc, which competes with other activities, then it must be a political activity, since there have to be decisions made as to how those scarce resources will be disposed.

Just a little example - Look at the battle Slough Town Football Club has had over a num ber of years just to get some land on which to build a new ground and the level to which this became a "political football" and you will see the whole gamut of issues which arise. Type it into Google "Slough Town Football Club problems" and see what I mean. There are many others - the Olympics 2012 for another at the national level, both in terms of finance, but also in terms of the battle that went on between Birmingham and London for the right to stage the games.....

just superb!!...In 3 sentences how would you sum up reasons as to why politivs and sport should interconnect, althought the last answer was great, thanks
How about this:

Politics and sport will always interconnect firstly because of the need to allocate resources to competing demands. Secondly, sport is seen as a moral activity, espousing as it does the ideas of fair competition, and equality to compete on the same basis, so that when unfairness, cheating or lack of equality to compete appear, this is a matter for people to decide to support a position or not, which is a political activity. Finally sport is an activity where entities, be they clubs, cities, or other geographical regions play out what they see as demonstrations of their power or skill, making them better than other entities - which again is a political activity.
