I was brought up in children's homes from the age of 3 months. I have to say that it isn't nice being in care,I tried to commit suicide at the age of 11 due to the bullying and abuse I suffered, I took 50 paracetamol but was discovered after 3 hours and taken to hospital for stomach pump and intravenous antidote. I can believe there were horrible things going on in this case in Jersey but I think the press may be sensationalising quite a bit!!!

The whole story seems strange, no mention of arrests. All we hear about are the discoveries being made. No-ones come out on the staff side who may've been working there at the time - all very bizarre.

I dont believe in censorship but I do think there should be a halt to the hourly news broadcasts repeating the same facts over and over again. Can we please have a bit of silence till there is something significant found? Also, sympathy to the daffy, you sound brave.

I expect their building a case and probably trying to track these people down! Years have passed! I think that the press should play an active role as they do have their purpous, but I do agree they are in fear of sensationalising it!

I hope for the victims sake, there are prosecutions to be made!

Are not the people who are coming forward saying they were abused quite old? It could be that the abusers themselves are already dead. I do think the media is salivating over it though.

The ones who run Jersey Knew what was happening they covered it up in case it affected tourism, so much child abuse has gone on in the jersy over the centuries it is disgusting, Boolawg, you have hit the nail on the head, Jersey, The capital of witchcraft last century, I can tell you things about that place that I know happened. I will say no more on here.

I know somebody that was abused out there and when the one who did it came out of prison, he was given a flat overlooking a schhol playground, it is pathetic, sort it out for christ sake, makes me sick

I can't help but think that 'the powers that be' in such a situation ought to be investigated as to their proclivities........
Top Policemen who turn a blind eye or hope 'it will all blow over';
Judges who hand out ludicrously lenient sentences,
Social Service workers who don't believe the child.

There has never been any proof anywhere of Satanic practices; Orkney, Rochdale, etc.

I don't think that Old Nick can be blamed for this........

Whoa, steady on. There's no proof of anything yet. A skull has been found which police say might well predate the investigation, so no foul play as yet.

Why not wait and see if there's some evidence first before jumping to conclusions?

The reason I am not saying anything on here is because it went on a while ago and it involved someting found in a house involving incest and witchcraft. If I had any proof of anything that was happening now I would not hesitate to tell the authorities, but I would do it on the mainland, not in Jersey, things have been covered up over there.

Lots of terrible things went on in the 60's in care homes, children's homes, Mental hospitals, mother and baby homes, etc., etc. At least things are, for the most part, better now. I just find it awful that there were such dreadful things going on in my lifetime.

The general public don't know the half of what went on in kids homes back in the 60's 70's and 80's..........and obviously before judging by the Jersey stories. I am grateful for my harsh upbringing though as it has made me a much stronger person than I would have been if brought up by my useless mother.

Daffy that's awful. I'm always amazed that children get taken into care for their own good, supposedly, yet often end up being abused far worse than they were at home.

Institutions where vulnerable children are housed en masse are never a good idea, surely? Even well intentioned foster parents simply can't give quality time to each child and look after their individual welfare.

But what seems to be unfolding in Jersey looks like something truly sinister. How absolutely heart-breaking.
