I've put this on here, as this site seemed the most appropiate.
Please read, as it should concern us all.

It may take a couple of posts.

Please take the time to read this in memory of all those that died

It is a matter of history that when Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he order ed all possible photographs to be taken and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect: ' Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the track of history some ******* will get up and say that this never happened'

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

This week, the UK removed The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offended' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred.

This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended.

This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain , in memory of the

six million Jews,

20 million Russians,

10 million Christians

and 1,900 Catholic priests

who were murdered, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated with the German and Russian peoples looking the other way!

Now, more than ever, with Iran, among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

This e-mail is intended to reach 40 million people worldwide!

Be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world.

Don't just delete this. It will only take a minute copy, paste and to pass this along and - when you do - stop to think 'just what IS this, once great, country of ours coming to and just how much more can we take before we wake up and actually DO something'?

Lonnie, I didn't know the Holocaust had been removed from the school curriculum because it offends Muslims. Do they really claim it never occurred, and if so, why do they claim that? I am truly shocked. If that's true, then it's not only completely ridiculous - it's absolutely appalling!!!
Was the Holocaust ever in the school curriculum? It wasn't when I was at school- granted it was some years ago. It also wasn't in the curriculum when Teen Boo was still at school.
I don't care that it offends muslims, and i don't get what it has to do with themn what we have on out school curriculum,
Well done, lonnie. Also, remember the Poles who died - my grandfather amongst them. K x
Lonnie and In a pickle
Both heart tugging threads.
I just wish each and everyone of us could find a way to live in harmony.
Life is too short.
Thank you both for that.
That link says it's "still compulsory"...how long has this been for? Like I said Teen Boo never studied this at school and she's only 19.
I don't think it was on the GCSE curriculum for any of mine and they all did history. Even so, it's not right that one religion can object to a historical event. It wasn't a religious persecution was it? It was ethnic cleansing to use a more modern term
Give it 100 years, and all traces of the Holocaust will have been erased from British history (Britain, oh what an effing joke). Eid will be celebrated in preference to Christmas (not that Christmas means anything anymore, sadly, so what the heck). I just continue with private beliefs, I continue to wish well for Israel, surrounded as it is by backward murderous Arabic countries.

Does anybody remember Britain ? It's gone for ever, on its way to Third World status as Islam, guns, knives, take over. Death by political correctness.

Hi iap,
That was very well put, i'd read that, I forget where, but thanks for putting that up.

It came in an email from one of my old Army buddies, but thanks also for draeing our attention to the victimisation of Gays at this time.

Boo,
I don't know if it was officially on the curriculum, but it was taught at my school, a secondary modern in Dagenham, but the real point is that the Muslims, maybe not all, but those that count, deny the Holocaust happened.

naomi,
I know a short time ago, in the news, i'll look for a link later, some schools weren't going to teach it, in case Muslims were offended.

dot,
100%.

Kleiber,
Yes, your right, if I recall, the hospital in Jersey was built in part by Polish slave labour.

I think Whiffey has summed it up about right.

Hi 10,
I tend to agree with you, religion should be taught at home, or in the place of worship.

This recommendation seems to be a catalyst in the actions:

http://publications.teachernet.gov.uk/default. aspx?PageFunction=productdetails&PageMode=publ ications&ProductId=DFES-00045-2007

The reports also indicate a deletion of teaching the historical facts of the Crusades, so as not to be offensive.

We, here in the U.S. have had to deal with the same political expediencies and are monitoring the effects in the U.K.

Hi Lonnie - thank you for posting this thread.

Very moving post from IAP too.

Along with us, our two daughters have been made aware of WW1 & the Holocaust & atrocities in WW2, by listening to our elders, reading & watching programmes. Their children have/will also be made aware & it will hopefully carry on as such, thro' the generations.

We must never forget, otherwise, what was/is the point of the brave men & women who fought & are still fighting to keep us safe?

(P.S. The Holocaust wasn't on my school curriculum, or our daughters. Not sure about my husband's as he's asleep, so I can't ask him)!
May they all rest in peace. -xx-
It is getting to the point where everything connected to british culture or christianity is offensive to muslims(or so the PC Brigade would have us believe) In that case what the hell are they doing here? Does our very existence offend them? If so, do they intend to wipe us out ? They have no need - the PC Brigade are doing the job for them. How long before we are ordered to convert to islam to please muslims? How long before enough people are prepared to stand up and say to hell with all this PC. I am ready now.
In case folk have not read the BBC link posted earlier by juggerling this is how it starts-

"E-mails are circulating around the world, claiming the UK has banned the teaching of the Holocaust in schools.
The false suggestion is the action has been taken by the government to avoid offending some Muslim communities.

The source of the rumour may be a report that some history teachers were uncomfortable with sensitive subjects.

In fact the government has reaffirmed that in England, teaching children about the Holocaust is compulsory, and it is not banned elsewhere in the UK.

A number of people have contacted the BBC News website querying e-mails they have been sent.

One example is headed "In Memoriam".

It says: "Recently this week, UK removed The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offended' the Moslem population which claims it never occurred."

It adds: "This is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it."
