I'm not her biggest fan, but what I read in the Express today of her interview in the US yesterday states that she said her and Paul would argue because she wanted him to give more of his vast fortune to charity and he didn't want to.

I have to say I totally agree with her and if this is true, good on her for trying to get him to do some good. I don't know the ins and outs of their relationship and don't really care, but if he has a fortune of 250m (or something like that) and she just wants him to give more of it to charity, I can't have a shred of sympathy for him but I can for her. If I was in her shoes I would probably have done the same thing.

It really makes me sick that some people just have so much wealth which they clearly don't need. The other day I was reading about a writer who now runs an animal sanctuary (can't remember her name) but is running out of money so may have to close it, she stated that Sir Paul was a friend, so why on earth can't he give her some of his money?? If I ran a charity and an obscenely rich friend of mine didn't offer to help out I would be extremely offended.

I know lots of people disagree with me on this (Mr Emu for one) but I just hate really really rich people who don't give a big portion of their money away! Who really needs 250m in the bank???

Why should they give it away? They earned it fair and square so good luck to them. Elton John was once criticised for spending hundreds of thousands on flowers but why? It's his money and he can choose to do whatever he wishes.
yes, Elton brings a lot of business to flower sellers. That may sound like a joke, but flower sellers have to live too; they get his money, they spend it in turn so other people get business; that's how the world turns, and Elton does his bit. I know nothing about Paul's money (it may be the charity she had in mind is the Fund for the Legless) but it doesn't just sit in a bank as if it was under the mattress; a bank will also invest it, so it too will be working.
Where do you draw the line?

At what point is someone rich enough that they chould give money to charity, on the basis that they are rich?

Do you without sin cast the first stone? Do you give all your non-essential income to charity?

Donations to charity are a personal choice for rich and poor alike - and just because HMM says that she wanted more donations and Paul refused does not make it a fact - just something she has said.

If we are pointing the finger at rich people not giving enough to good causes, why not start with someone who has inherited all her wealth, and uses it to support her vastly extended family in a maner to which we can only dream of, never aspire to.

Can you guess who it is yet?

I had a feeling most people would disagree with me!
Andy - my boyfriend uses exactly the same argument about how I don't give away all my non essential money so I can't talk, but still I just think it's disgusting some people have SO much money! I don't know where the line is, but I'm pretty sure people like Paul M are way past it.

As for your comment on the royal family - I am digusted that the royal family have so much money and still get money off tax payers, I think it's awful and I don't know how they live with themselves. The royal family make me sick! I suppose at least PM earnt his money as people have pointed out.

I'm just confused I don't understand why people think it's ok for some people to have so much wealth!
The queen paid 127m tax last year! the civil list is half that, I'd say we are up. Anyway on the main point, let's wait and see what the gold digger in chief does with the money she get's out of Macca via a judge. I'll be keenly watching her dishing it out to charity.

So they split because she wanted him to give his money away, sounds like the marraige was on shakey ground to start with!
While it might grate that the super rich make more and more money and yet may refuse to share the wealth, it would be bordering on ridiculous to force them to give it away at a certain cut off. To do that would stop the greatly talented entrepeneurs of the world striving to get ahead. What would be the point of writing the next great album etc etc if the proceeds were to be taken away from you? Or you weren't going to earn from it? And the nonsense about inheritance too...why should it be taken away? The money has probably been used to pay taxes several times over...why should it be taxed a whopping 40% if it's over a certain limit? With house prices rising continually more and more people have been falling into the bracket of being taxed like this. Thankfully the government has responded by copying the Conservative plan to raise the limit.

As for the royal family. Well...I'm not going into that. They live a life of riley and to be honest I don't see what good they do any more. The younger royals are a total farce and it'll only get worse.

Anyway getting back to the point..who's to say their money is non essential? Do you know what bills they have to pay? Upkeep on properties? Rates etc? Why do you think Sir Paul's still touring and recording albums? He's maybe feeling a bit strapped. LOL

At the end of the day it's people's money and their right to choose what to do with it and if you don't give away your non essential money either then you're nothing more than a hypocrite. Man I'd love to be rich though...sigh! lol
He has done a lot for the charities of his local town Rye in East Sussex, he can't give to every charity in the world, and why would one believe her!!
Maybe he wouldn't support the charities she thought worthwhile.

As far as I am aware he does donate substantial funds to causes he supports without any publicity.

How does the media work out how much anyone is worth?

She's her favourite charity!!!
I remember Stephen King answering the point about his multi-million dollar fortune, he said "Well obviously I will leave it all to my children, and they will leave it to theirs, and it will filter down ... it will get spent eventually ..."

Can't argue with that really.

I have to say, if I was lucky and talented enough to enjoy the combination of ability, luck, and right-place-right-time coincidence that allows music and sports stars to earnm such vast amounts, I would simply enjoy it.

I think the financial inequalities in the world could easily be solved my governments and major corporations, rather than expecting high-profile entertainers to do it - I have no problem with rich people at all - apart from the roayl family, who continue to live off the state and support a load of 'no value' family members.
I think theres a bit of disability discrimination going on here.
She lost her leg trying to save a dog on a railway line and has been presented with a bravery medal from the Queen.
Her character and courage should admired, instead of being the subject of rumour and innuendo.
Actually Macca is worth about 750m not 250m
Cambus...Heather Mills lost her leg when hit by a police motorcycle that was responding to an emergency call.Nothing whatsoever to do with a dog or a train.

How on earth do you know Heather Mills is being entirely truthful?

Who knows how much he has or hasn't given to charity? Whose business is it anyway?

It does not impress me when 'celebs' make a big song and dance about their charitable donations - charity donations should be a private thing for ones own conscience, not to inflate the ego or self publicise.

she is just a sour faced ,self pitying, money grabbing, man eating wench. she saw an opportunity and went for it, mores the pity for macca. carla lane is the lady who runs the animal sanctuary and i know that paul and his late wife linda supported this charity and many many countless others. he built his fortune over 40 odd years so why should he give in to this evil womans ideas. she should just get on with her life, stay off the tv and keep her big geordie gob shut, it'll do us all a big favour.
Heather Mills was Pauls bed partner for four years--- so what? she contributed absolutely nothing to his fortune that he made over the last fifty years.

Her settlement in divorce court should be a half of bitter and a bag of crisps
AARRRGGGHHH! Yawn !
I am looking forward to her giving whatever she settles for to the charity's she so longs to help . Yawn!!
Nobody but PM knows what he quietly gives to charity, and as he's the one who earnt all his wealth, it's up to him how he chooses to spend it. Seems to me that Heather was offered a very good settlement - which she turned down, & now she's after his Peasmarsh estate (because of its high-tech security). She cold easily afford good security on any property that she ends up with, without demanding more. Begrudging people wealth simply because they have it though - sounds like jealousy to me.
