No No No, The Government already puts 800 million, yes 800 into the Post Office pension fund to prop it up and you want us to pay more !!!!!!!

There are hundreds of other people that lose their pensions and are the Government helping them ? NO.

They have had it too good too long, Why can't they work the hours they are paid for ? not too much to ask is it ?

The Postal workers dont care for any one else so why should we care for them. the planned this strike action to coincide with the end of a month and financial quarter. There are many small businesses that work on a shoestring and to not be able to receive and payments from invoices or to send out goods could send many of them under even in this short space of time, Cashflow in a nightmare for small businesses.

SACK THE LOT OF THEM

(sorry for my rant, but I feel much better now)
Many government and civil service departments are VERY inefficient (not all, but many).

I started work at the GPO about 40 years ago (when it was Royal Mail and BT combined) and the people there were SO lazy and SO overpaid for what they did.

I was in the part that fitted phones, and we always got our Saturday overtime jobs on Friday morning. So on Friday we did our Friday jobs on Friday morning, and our Saturday jobs on Friday afternoon.

We did not come in at all on Saturday, but always got paid overtime for the Saturday.

I am not saying it is like that NOW, but that is the sort of thing that many government departments take for granted.

It is NOT about putting up the cost of stamps but making sure that each of the employees does a full days work which is what they are paid for.

These people are feather bedded and they would not know what hit them if they were in the private sector.
Why don't Tesco add 5p to every item so shop workers get a decent wage in line with the national average? Surely being able to buy groceries so you don't starve is just as if not more important than getting some bills you didn't want through your letter box?

A ridiculous comment i'm sure, but if we all started bleating on about how important our jobs are (i'm self employed so have no need) and demanding payrises or strikes then what would happen?

Tha national average is around the same amount newly qualified nurses and teachers get, after years of study and proper training. Why should people with no/little skill or need for formal qualifications for a job get the same wages?
Spanish practices must get Spain a bad name. But if a postman does his round in half the time shouldn't he be encouraged to do this and reward him for his efforts. Else you have them working at speeds of the slowest postman. The management are at fault for not offering better rewards for his efficiency.
Why don't postal workers actually start to take a pride in their job again the way they used to, and start to give us a decent service again? Then we might be more inclined to used the service more and possibly feel a little less cheated when the price of a stamp goes up.
The strike is not about pay.
I agree with the first two posts (sorry), they should get paid for the hours they work, not spin it out so they can all claim overtime.

Get back to work!
why dont they just stop paying them for the hours theyre not actually working but pretending they are, that will save a fortune.if the unions got their heads out of the socialist worker and brought themselves into this century they might get taken more seriously
My postman cares. If they want to take shortcuts, leap hedges, walk quickly, get the job done and go home, then why not?

I support them to the full.
Grrrrrr..I still haven't received any post. Haven't seen a postie around these parts either :o(
