Is anyone prepared to come clean about any technique they use when Googling for answers for the Sunday Times/Faber Literary Quiz. I have a vague idea for a short story with clues embedded in the plot.

Most people don't know how to use Google. Period.

Many questioners on here claim to have Googled for hours, unable to find an answer. I then go to Google and find the answer on the first page of results.

Go to Google's own website and LEARN how to use it - there are many techniques, using punctuation etc, that will allow you to target your searching far more effectively.
