On the news it was said that the standard of writing of 7year olds has fallen for the second year, does it matter as they are odds on to pass A levels in record numbers?

"I will not be cynical..."
I'll never forget when teen Boo was at school her appalling spelling, lack of grammar and generally sloppy writing. When I voiced my concern to her school at the time, they replied that none of that mattered as long as the answer/answers themselves were correct!! I was floored to be honest, the English language is being butchered and teachers don't care.

Even now at 19, her handwriting is incredibly childlike, and despite my best efforts when she was younger, she still asks me how to spell sometimes very basic words.
Unfortunately, present day teachers are teaching what they never learned when they were untaught.
My spelling is awful, but English is my second language and I have a degree... later found that i may even be dislexic, but thought I wouldn't bother finding out if I am as I think i've done well without being able to spell!
