Well obviously we don't have the death penalty so I would say that would explain why he's not swinging. And as has been stated elsewhere, I think death would be a soft option for him. I'd rather he suffer through prison.

I think Sp1814 (really am going to call you 'splat' one of these days) makes a fantastic point about what we're afraid and the horrendous reality that most abuse is carried out by a member of or someone known to the family.

Incidentally...Neilzulu1 - I normally disgree 100% with everything you post (and I'm sure you feel the same about me).

However, I read this story in the paper yesterday and it's the closest I've ever come to thinking, "Perhaps there's some validity in simply deleting this person from the world".

Sometimes, you read something which...how can I put this...sometimes you read something that actually makes you feel worse as a human being because you know that there's someone who shares the same basic genetic make-up as me.

Not saying I've changed my belief in the death penalty...but I've had to really think about it.
