Well done Lonnie. I'd be interested to know the outcome.

I do not think we always have the same political view, but I agree wholeheartedly with your attempts to use the political system to redress injustices.
I totally agree with naomi24, well done.
Many people here and I include myself pontificate on what is right or wrong, but few I suspect actually take action like you. That actually involves some effort that isn't bound in self gratification.
I think we could all take a leaf out of your book, even if that doesnt mean having to have the same political perspective.
Please do update on your action.
Probably busy filling his expense claims in,if last year is anything to go by.

Thanks everyone for your replies and encouragement on this issue, its something that we all obviously feel very strongly about,

I'll cetainly post again when John Barons office replies again.
Thanks Lonnie. I did sign the petition, but it's a shame we're not all as pro-active as you. We really ought to try harder. This country might be a better place if we did.

Hi naomi,
I signed too, but extra pressure in a case like this never does any harm, and I fully agree with the rest of what you say also.
Lonnie

I feel inspired...can you send me the link to this story. I think I'll mail my MP too.

If you can get the link out today, I'll mail before I leave work. It'll be interesting to see politics 'in action'.

Or should that be 'inaction'?

(Oooh, satire).
Good on you, Lonnie. Keep up the good work.
SP, I've decided I'm inspired too. Lonnie, you're an inspiration to us all. I'm going to write to my MP.
Right...I've sent mine.

I'll give my MP two weeks to respond before I send a chaser.
good for you, Lonnie.
Lonnie,
Count me in too. We are all behind you.

I forgot to say, well done to everyone whose contacting their MP, and of course, if you get replies, I look forward to hearing what they say.

We all do.

Still nothing further from mine, but I suppose patience is the watchword.
Hello Lonnie and all who have written to their MPs. I received this response, dated 4 July, from mine.

"I appreciate your concerns, and indeed, recently raised with the relevent Minister this government's treatment of past members of the Ghurka Regiment."

Well at least he responded with more than a standard letter!
