A guy from the black police association was on the news yesterday defending the positive discrimination against recruitment of white officers, one of his reasons for this was that ethnic minority / black communities 'might not want another white officer in the area who doesnt understand their culture and language'. What would be the response if I went on TV and announced that I dont want another black/asian officer in my local area?

Absolute indifference.
You would be accused of racism.
makes me mad...what happened to white culture and language?
As you say, there's a Black Police Association. that in itself is surely racist, however, as thats so obviously allowed, why can't someone start a White Police Association?.
Yep, you`d be called a racist

The man`s a fool, black policemen are hated more than white policemen in black communities
Well if Elvis is right, then the guy is an idiot.or maybe he's racist..who knows.Personally Im pi$$ed off with this im black im white shte..fer ***** sake....in the grand scheme of things were bu$$er all....(:O)
As far as I see it, discrimination is discrimination, if the law says you should not be discriminated against because of your colour or race and all those other things, then I don't see how it can be legal.
Sory to burst your collective balloons but isn't the salient point about culture and language? the skin colour issue is an aside isnt it?
Witout being racist, because I am not a racist, but I'm scare of being accused of racism, (phew, had to preface my remarks with a politically correct introduction, otherwise the thought police might be on to me), I think positive discrimination is abhorrent and unfair to white British people who are seeing the country given away to alien cultures, and losing out on job opportunities, the fire brigade, the NHS and now the police, discriminating against our own kids. It's disgusting, and not surprising given our tendency to undermine our own values - like Christianity.
The salient point, John Lambert, is upholding the laws of Great Britain. This holds no difference bewteen skin, race, culture and society. A White police officer should be able to uphold and convey the law in any community, such as should a black or asian police officer. To add to this, anyone either visiting or residing in this country should also be able to understand and act in a manner that is compliant with the laws of this land such as we would do if we go abroad.

Why be scared of being branded a racist Theland? Why try to excuse yourself before making your point? you are playing right into the hands of the so called 'Thought Police' who are forever trying to strangle free speach. If it has got to be said then say it.

If you shut up the truth, bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in it's way.
