Can I use Nokia phone battery charger and digital camera battery charger with solely an adaptor or do I need more kit to convert from 110v to 220v?

When I went to NY I was able to charge both my phone and camera just using the adaptor. It may have taken longer, but as I did it at night while i was in bed, I didnt notice
You just need a 'pin' converter, as most of these kind of chargers are rated '110-240 volts'. Look at the back of the chargers, in the area of the pins and you will see what the ratings are.
Shavers are usually 110-240 as well.

As a rule of thumb, you can probably assume any appliance that draws a high current (anything producing heat for example, hair-dryer, curlers etc) will NOT be dual-rated, and you would need a transformer.

A lot of low-current appliances do seem to be dual rated these days.
Look carefully on the charger. My Nokkia one says on it '100 - 240v 50 - 60 Hz' so it's suitable for the US.
