Yes !!
To be fair, if unexplained packages were left in key places in the London (or any city in the UK) the city would get closed down until the items were checked out.

I get the impression the producers were being incredibly naive and are now trying to save face.
They were light advertising boards for God's sakes with cartoons on them and they'd been there for weeks, work it out yourself.
and 9 other cities didn't share the view that they were bombs!
paranoid! there's a war on terror didn't you know. we must all remain scared of nothing and everything, what a farce. the sad part is the media's been spewing for day's different suggestions what should be done with the young perpetrators of this henious act against freedom and democracy, one even suggesting a spell in guantonamo. as has been said previous they were very obvious advertising boards, had been up for weeks and were in many other cities. terror alert critical, please do not leave your homes! cheers.
What about that huge bome at Piccadilly Circus that advertises Coca-Cola?

There's a reason the word Yank rhymes with ......
bome? ...***bomb***
noxlumos says they could not have been bombs as they had cartoons on them.

What better way to hide a bomb than put it in an innocent object. If you put a bomb in a milk carton or sandwich box it would not cause alarm.

Or do terrorists write the word BOMB on every one so the police can spot them easily.
I think the Americans have every right to be paranoid, especially from visitors from this country.

Post 9/11 and Iraq, they were the target of terrorists, and at present, they are more at risk than we are.
That should've read pre 9/11 and Iraq, not post.
My apologies.
I did not say that at all Vehelpfulguy, I was describing what they were,What their purpose was, where they were and how long they had been there DUH!
Of course you're not going to paint the owrd BOMB on the side of a bomb, but at least read the flaming answers people give properly.
Is there a link to the story, anyone?
Maybe the question should ask, "are Bostonians paranoid"?
This story is particularly poignant in light of your question, I thought.
