June Sarpong has got an MBE for services to the entertainment industry.

WHY?????????

Surely this is proof enough that the honours system is utterly meaningless. It demeans the honours given to people who may actually have done something to deserve them. Or am I being unfair?

WHAT!!!!!!!!????

You are not being unfair....WHY THE HELL HAS SHE GOT ONE?

I can think of far more worthy people than some kids tv presenter to get an MBE....madness.

I read it on teletext earlier and couldn't believe it.

So I hunted down the full list, which by the way is huge, and sure enough she's on there.

The world has indeed gone mad.
Great minds think alike, Llamatron. This gong for JS may well be the setting of a precedent, such as a Nobel prize for physics to Kelly Osbourne.
Cherie Blair's shoemaker has got a gong as well. This proves it is a load of cobblers.
Why they give these MBEs etc to so called celebrities and entertainers is beyond me,they get paid far to much anyway what a complete waste of time and space most of them are.
Llamatron, i thought this was a joke when i first read it! JUNE SARPONG!!!!!!! She is a dire presenter! I think they have lost all meaning these days anyway, and if they hadnt, they have now!
Demeans yes; people who deserve yes. Like Elton John.
Who by the way is writing a tatally original song for Saddam.
Something about 'Blowing in the Wind', I think.
The day they Mick Jagger got a knighthood was the day I realised that the honours list was a joke. It should be for real people giving real services to the comunnity not overpaid rock stars who have openly taken drugs and sleep with anyone or people like |une Sarpong - I have never even heard of her - who happens to know someone in the right places. So yes it does demean all the hard work of the people who really deserve them.
It is because she is very involved with the Prince's Trust and gives alot of her time to encouraging young people to get involved in the Trust rather than standing under bus shelters smoking weed and drinking stella.
I can't understand why she is even on TV, let alone given any honours.

But then when you look at all the middle management civil servants - I think there is even an Admin Assistant there somewhere - who also got an MBE or OBE you realise how belittling it is to those who actually earned the merit by doing something out of their normal scope, rather than just doing their job. Also for all those most excellent chappies who 'earned' awards for services to cricket. Bless 'em.

It's worthless really, just feel a little sorry for those who truly deserve recognition.
What IS outrageous is that Prince Naseem has just been stripped of his OBE/MBE because of dangerous driving and Jeffrey bloody Archer can keep his knighthood after being proved guilty of being a lying, cheating sh1tbag.

And Zara Phillips has just got one too. Nepotism anyone?
I think she deserves it. For being able to wear 16 tubes of ultra high-shine lipgloss, on one set of lips, at one time without becoming glued to the set, her interviewee's or fellow presenters.
