I might have known this had come from the Daily Mail in conjunction with a disgruntled ex-Labour councillor. As you might expect it is a gross misrepresentation.
As a Labour councillor you are required to pay a subscription to the Association of Labour Councillors which provides all sorts of advice and support to help you in the role of councillor. Some councillors choose to have this deducted from the small salary they receive for being a councillor rather than from their bank account.
There's nothing sinister or underhand.

If it is such a gross misrepresentation then why is the Tory party calling for an investigation.

It looks very underhand to me to see that the slalary being paid to a councillor ends up directly into the Labour coffers and not into the Councillors bank account. if he spends his money out of his bank in any way he choses no one will care. Why are some Labour councillors against this contribution anyway.

As your party may say....'this is very unhelpful'...or your leader may say ...'i am simply saying to the people'......

Bloody cheats and liars. why not toast to the future of Trident and nuclear missiles/technology and dont forget to take down the CND posters while you are at it.....

rant over.....
The Tories are calling for an investigation 'cos it discredits Labour and seals the next election before the first leaflet is pushed through the door- especially if they are found guilty of something. If they're not, it's still a case of "throw enough mud and it sticks". Honestly, matt66, you're a bit of an amateur at this "politics" thing.

The Mailaganda machine's well oiled as of late.
Very true, this is the most sleazy and corrupt goverment we've ever had, but, Shock and Horror, there are still some people that think the sun shines out of their backsides.

Since they got in, was it nine years ago?, they've put so many taxes, its incredible, ok, they're not all called taxes, but that what they are.

Do you have bottemless pockets?, I certainly don't, and they won't be satisfied until they've taxed you out of your home.
No, the Labour party are not perfect; in fact I object to almost policy of theirs; Iraq was obviously a sham from the second it was mentioned, student top-up fees don't benefit universities, they just cripple students as 82% of university funding is taxation anyway, IVF on the NHS is a complete joke, and so on. It's just that aristotle is presenting a balanced argument. For some of you this is quite a revelation.

Fact is, we can't judge until the investigation throws up corruption, but the Mail just goes and chooses to be judge, jury and executioner. As usual.

Furthermore, you're still choosing to forget that the Tories are not without an ulterior motive. They're fighting the next election as much as Labour are. D'ya think they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts?
What you say,NH, is very true, but the Tories aren't in goverment, and so can't tax us or dictate policies.
