Why can't we all get on?
I have not been here long but get increasingly frustrated by the unhelpful and almost racist comments of some people on here.
Why can't all the people in this country live in peace. To constantly pick on muslims is very unfair. They only came here for a better life and I think it is the duty of all British people to ensure that they integrate as best as possible.
We should all go along to our local mosque and ask what we can do to help the muslim community. Maybe we could give them financial help or prey along side them to give them some sort of comfort during their hardship due to the narrow minded bigots in this country.
Perhaps it would help if people better understood islam. Maybe it would be good if islam was taught in our schools. I think that this would help us to understand muslims better and make for a better and more understanding society.
If we don't act now, we risk inflaming the extremists muslims. Better to spiritually connect with those that would advocate terrorism and try to lure them away from extremism.

The trouble is we have been too accommodating, and I am afraid it is all one sided. They mainly refuse to intergrate with us, and the more we bend to their demands the more demands they make.
And if we have to pander to their whims in case we inflame them, then that is the time we no longer have a hold on our country. What would have happened if we had took this appeasement attitude way back in 1939, with the Nazis? They would have achieved domination over this country.
i have nothing against muslims but they must realise that this is mainly a Christian country, and should not expect us to alter our culture. They came to this country and if they are not happy to embrace our ways, then I am sorry but they should have chosen a Muslim country to reside in.

Emma why is it racist to want to protect ones country and way of life ? It is an evolutionary trait to enhance survival, protecting ones reources, why do you think the vast majority of life, is territorial.

Its their own fault, as i've said before, they are the only group who want everything in this country to change for them, over the years, we've had African, West Indians, Jews, Chinese etc, a complete mix of religeoun and nationalities, and they have all, without fail, lived within the laws of this country, without trying to change it.
Emma apears to be a Muslim herself. I'll be damned if Im gonna do the things she says. British pride and Honour come first. We have been more than accomodating to all of them. Pampering them!! Appeasing them!! And what have we got in return? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Except of course for a severe case of biting the hand that feeds you.

emma you mention narrow minded bigots...see some of the posts above. sadly the bigotry comes from the prime minister downwards to the core of this corrupt government. yesterday the PM said.......they are excluding themselves...it is uncomfortable for others (referring to the veil). This coming from a man who proclaimed that god was on his side and that he will answer to his maker (war on Iraq).

Emma, I totally agree wth your sentiments. I also find many of the posts on here to be based upon racist attitudes. I think a lot of it is due to media brainwashing portraying all mulims as being supporters of terrorism and as a group who dispise the British way of life. Most of the replies to this thread have already predictably been along the usual lines of "they come here but wont integrate" , "if they dont like it here why dont they go home", "this is a mainy christian country", "we are losing our identiy". I beleive that these type of comments are bred from an insecurity regarding a group most of these posters are likey have had little or no contact with. I agree wth you that a better understanding of Islam would help t fight these attitudes and create a more understanding society.

First point - Why when talking about muslims and Islam does everybody immediately assume that they are all fundamentalists and extremists? And before I get the full back lash, yes, I quite agree, there are some muslims out there who do want to enforce Islam in Britain and I do not agree with this. In much the same way I don't agree with anyone shoving their culture/religion down someone elses throats whether they're jeehovah's witness, jewish, creationalist, catholic, christian... whatever!
Second Point - By responding to the few extremist muslims by tarring all muslims with the same brush, do you not think that perhaps you are helping them to achieve their aim of dividing the country and continueing this feud? When IRA were about in the 80's, did you think that all northern irish, catholic men were members?!
And finally - Yes I do think that islam should be touched on schools, along with all other types of religion as well, partly because it might teach tolerence, mainly because it's always nice to take an informed stance.

Thats a good idea, promotes equality with the other religions by alienating them alone for special treatment, I am sure attitudes would shift in their favour.......

Willingness to intergrate to their country of residences way of life. Acceptance of other faiths outside of their own would aid the understanding of Islam.

It is not spiritual, mainly extremesists have hijacked the teachings and altered them to suit. Having to lure anybody away from terrorism should be done with harsher punishment, not incentive bonuses for not blowing things up!
