Just seen on the news that in Middlesbrough they have CCTV cameras with loud speakers, if you drop a piece of litter a voice tells you to put it in the bin. Do you think this is a bit over the top?

Totally OTT.

Bet they can't use it to catch chavs beating up pensioners though! That would be invasion of privacy or something.

No, I think it is a great idea - if you don't drop litter, you won't get affected.

I think it could prove effective.

Imagine dropping litter and having some loud voice from above shout 'Oi you in the blue tracksuit...I see you...pick that up".

Almost as good as that idea to play Barry Manilow albums in precincts and arounds shops where local councils have seen a rise in 'yoof trouble'.

There is a camera on Camden rd opposite Holloway prison which is supposed to check for escapees but is constantly focused on the flats opposite. You know they are checking out 18 year old girls getting out the shower.

It might remind people what an imposition CCTV actually is and lead to a backlash against the whole concept. Which would be a good thing.

I think it is a good idea and I have no problems at all with CCTV - I have nothing to hide.

This could reassure someone in trouble if the operator lets then know that help is on the way, especially late at night.

Noticed that all but one report this answer buttons have been pressed why? And the question has been reported as well!!
