As this government woefully underestimated the influx of Eastern Europeans last time around (10% of all people in Southampton are Poles according to the TV news last week), what is the best way to deal with the Romanians and Bulgarians?

I'm for refusing entry to all and to hell what the EU says.

And should they have to wait a certain time before being allowed NHS treatment?

How long should that be?

Say if an immigrant has a pre-existing heart condition, should he/she wait until the grace period was over before having a heart attack, or would they be allowed to have the heart attack at any point?
I have never been in a dole qew, maybe you can tell me?
no.. like in the USA, you shouldnt be allowed in if you have along term medical condition, harsh but fair
There are too many lazy gits who are born here never mind importing them. Everyone knows someone has never worked a day in their life, too many sick, lame and lazy.
I agree, and I feel thats it is any tax payers duty to report them to: www.targetingbenefitfraud.gov.uk
You are not alone Ireland has the same flow, the gov. in Ireland was actually thinking of changing the road signs to polish/english as so many were dying on the roads.
well in Southall west london all the road signs are already in Punjaby!

When you wrote:

"walk around any town center during the day and there will be tonnes of immagrants hanging around until their next dole cheque", I assume you must've asked them what they were doing.

Don't know about you, but I don't know whether people are hanging around because they're waiting for a bus, or mates or their dole.

I've had Polish builders, decorators and removal men in the past few months. All of whom have been hard working, honest and (amazingly) punctual.

I wouldn't hesistate in using their services again and again and again.

Marvellous people.
I am all for integration but there have to be limits. I work as a plasterer when i can get the work and just recently it has been hard. I have heard numerous stories and seen for my own eyes on one occasion where a car full of east europeans has turned up at a building site and offered plastering services at 50 per day after only labouring for a week they will pick up a trowel and call themselves plasterers.
working cash in hand??
Cash in hand?

Not like any British builders, plumbers, electricians, roofers, tilers etc etc ever work for cash in hand eh?

Just the naughtly foreigners.

C'mon...!

Ah remember being a dole cheat is much worse than being a tax cheat!

I mean that's totally different!

so why make it worse, two wrongs don't make a right
I'm only talking from personal experience - the companies I've used (and I paid by credit card, not cash in hand) were full of genuinely hardworking people who knew what they were doing.

I also go to a sandwich bar across the road from work, run by a couple of Polish girls. Again, they're always polite, efficient and friendly.

I say this because there's a tendency for Eastern Europeans to be sl*gged off left right and centre. It's simply not fair for us to label ALL of them greedy dole cheats...it's nutty right wing propoganda (again).
Catso asked "when is the country full to capacity?".jake -the-peg please read the question before answering .Thank you.

He corrected himself on his next post!
Japan is about the same size as the UK. It has twice as many people. And there's still empty space there. So no, Britain isn't crowded. (The reason it's so built-up is that these days everyone wants a house of their own; people don't like sharing and don't live in big families any more.)
jno I don't see too many people emigrating to Japan. (Please don't all get angry, it's only a joke.) ;-)
the biggest drain on society is unmarried mother, take alook around any city or town centre.
trakcab raised an interesting point re: increasing numbers of single mums and the child allowance they receive for their kids. I just wonder how that number compares with the rest of Europe.
We can not blame our shortcomings on immigrants and foreigners. There are some people, who have remained structurally unemployed. And I am not talking about foreigners and immigrants. These are just some lazy gits who have not worked in their lifetime and will use every opportunity to get away and milk the system.
