Is it really possible for a politician to serve both their party and their constituents?

It is possible BUT not at the same time. Most of the time "party" seems to win and the poor constituents get the short end of the stick.

I would say whatever happened it would be diffiuclt. If 2 people live in the same constituance have a different opinion (virtually impossible that there wouldnt be) then what can he/she do. They must represent the majority which is always a bit difficult without asking every single person their opinion. The way the government must work is they say this is what we are gonna do, if you dont like any of it then vote for somebody else. By voting for a party your basically saying "I give you the power to do what you like based on what you have promised"
