So Charles Clake (home secretary) has today admitted than 1023 foreign prisoner held in UK jails have been freed between 1999 and 2005, without being considered for deportation.

They include child molestors, drug dealers, burglers and people jailed for manslaughter.

Yet another example of how this party are incomptent, lazy, dishonest, and downright liars.

Surely we have never had a more incompetent governement.

They have sold half our gold reserves, poured money into the NHS and now find trusts all over the country are in debt and laying people off, allowed crime and anti-social behaviour to grow and grow, entered an illegal war in Iraq, and allowed almost unrestricted entry to anybody who turned up on our doorstep.

They have given honours out to people for gifts to the labour party, and had their fair share of corrupt members such as Blunkett and Mandelson.

Remember somoe of blairs lies

"You have 48 hours to save the NHS" before the election.

"Tough on crime and the causes of crime"

Just words, words words and almost no action.

Well done jug ears hand it to the BNP on a plate why dont you ?

It's not incompetance, it's intent. The current governement's aim is the complete distruction of the UK in order that they can be absorbed into the EU totally devoid of an national identity, it's so that President Tony can appear a good European to our EU masters.
I thought you didn't do conspiracy theories based on tenous logic, Loosehead?

Sorry - don't you remember what happened on Black Wednesday (Tories) when we were plunged into the ridiculous ERM which cost us billions...seriously billions (read Hugo Young's 'One Of Us' for details).

Remember the decimation of our manufacturing industry?

Remember Thatcher's slavish dedication to free market policies, which meant more for big business (and the pay masters of the Tories) than it did for you and your next door neighbours?

The Thatcher/Major years killed this country. And people who vote BNP as a protest against Labour are fools. They're voting for BNP because they read The Sun and cannot comprehend that their problems are their fault. It's nothing to do with immigration - they would've been failures if the country was 100% white.

Just going by the evidence Waldo!

Hang on...what's all this "allowed almost unrestricted access to anybody who turned up on our doorstep"?

That's a complete lie!

That is an absolute and complete lie.

I understand that people should have the right to robustly state their opinions, but when you lie about immigration policies, you're not better than the low brows who vote BNP thinking that they're going to give a 'better deal' for the indigenous population of this country.

Cloud cuckoo land I'm afraid.

The Labour Party is the best there is out there. What is the alternative?

UKIP Nazis?

BNP Fascists?

Liberal...ermm...Democrats?

C'mon...you know Labour's good for you.

Planet Earth calling sp1814. Mrs T saved this country from the last attempt you lefty's had at trying to make socialism work. Why must you change the subject? try answering the question rather than using diversionary tactics.
Thanks LH nice to be appreciated!

SP1814 - who rattled you cage then ?

So I erad the sun, so I'll vote BNP. Stop generalizing, and get that great big chip off your shoulder.

Most people did very well out of the Thatcher years and they handed a golden economy to Brown. They were not chucked out because of econopmy failures.

As for manufacturing - what is happening now. Oh yes its all the fault of the Tories.

What poppycock

I have to say, i am very disappointed with Labour. I wouldn't go as far as to say we were deliberately lied to, but it sometimes seems that way.
Pure genious Loosehead!
sp1814 - I'm inclined to agree with you! Labour seems to be the lesser of a big blender full of evils!
There are some minor parties with agreeable policies (in MY opinion) but the chances of them ever making it into real government are slimmer then Kate Moss! x

I have to admit that I have become thoroughly disillusioned with this Government of late, and this latest fiasco just serves to underline that fact.

"Sexing Up" of intelligence reports to justify the invasion of Iraq.
Donations for Peerages row
Introduction of a Biometric ID card
Trying to implement a bill that would allow the Govt to rubberstamp any legislation it wished to enact.
And now this.

Trouble is, I dont see any party out there that I think would do a better job.

I'm tired of people looking back on the Thatcher years as a golden period and everything Labour has done as wrong.

Mrs Thatcher started what we have now. She gave every working man the excuse to think only of himself and 's*d the rest'. Didn't she once say that 'there is no such thing as society'?

I totally agree that by 1979, we needed to re-evaluate our monetary policies, especially in light of the emerging economies of the east...but in order to do this...mass unemployment had to be maintained. It was the only way that you can support a free market economy.

And believe me - it weren't natural Tory votes that were affected.

Evil personified. Tony may have got things wrong, but it was genuinely from a right point of view. Thatcher got things wrong deliberately.

Incidentally, I may have given the impression that I scorn those who vote BNP. Apologies...I absolutely despise those who vote BNP - I've read the manifesto and a vote for the BNP is a vote against me as a human being and for that...I despise all BNP voters.

Please, please, please read Hugo Young's 'One Of Us'. I think you'll enjoy it. I am not a Thatcher fan by any means, but it's a thoughtful and thought-provoking read. Seriously - if you have any interest in the politics of the 80s, it's a must.

sp1814...what you call a complete and utter lie is the absolute and absolute truth. yes it was and still is an absolute open door policy. The absolute and absolute truth and you can remain blinkered if you wish....here why dont you try it...go out of this country and come back and say you are from ....go on pick a country....say your name is ....go on make it up......and see what happens. You want the truth you will get it...dare you to do it.
Not only is this government the most incompetent ever, but I would venture to suggest that it is the most CORRUPT ever!
Having said that, I cannot for the life of me see how anyone with any sense can vote for any politician as they ALL continuously lie.
I don't profess to have any viable alternative, but, just on principle I could not bring myself to vote in a general election.
It's a completely different issue, but there must be a better alternative to being governed by liars

I haven't read all the answers, got as far as Looseheads, and stopped, he has read this goverment correctly, i've been saying this for years, and getting knocked down for years, but as time goes on, more people are beginning to realise the truth, but nothing is being done about it,

The only people that can do something is the electorate, and too many people nowadays don't vote.

By the way, Regional Assemblies are coming back in, by the back door.

so people have done time for their crimes, then been set free. Gosh. Happens all the time, actually. The only thing different this time is that they are... ewww, yukk! - foreigners.
They were convicted for their crimes and as part of their sentence they were recommended for deportation (after serving their sentence which is another burden on the taxpayer, make them serve their sentence in their own country). So you see there is a difference. The homeoffice chose to ignore the second bit of the judges sentencing. And the real reason why they could not be sent back to wherever they came from...is a reason that you have to....well......send them somewhere....but where.......get my drift.....
I have been in business since 1976 and I can honestly say I have prospered much more under Labour than the previous goverment. I will of course way things up again come next election but as things stand now I don't even see the tories as credible oppositon let alone goverment............ but time will tell I guess.
I know that China refuses to take back any of their Nationals who have illegally entered another country so just to say "send 'em back" is a none starter!
