It's true unfortunately. I couldn't believe it when I saw it on the BBC news web site. His stepdaughter fell down the stairs of the family home whilst drunk and sustained a fatal head injury. Her stepfather took her up to his bedroom and raped her whilst she was unconscious. She died of the head injury a few hours later.
He only got nine years too. Truly horrific.

Sometimes it is hard not to argue against bringing back capital punishment

Ric.ror ~ very hard indeed :o(

If it were my daughter I would be outside the prison gates when he came out & administer the proper punishment. I would serve time & yes it WOULD make me feel better.

Two words, SICK B******D

it truly is the most gut-churningly sickening crime I've heard of for some time. 9 years seems far too little time in jail.
She fell down the stairs after taking a coktail of alcohol and pills. No suprise if you had a step-father like that.

9 years!!! I reckon they should give him a cocktail of drugs throw him down the stairs and let some fat greay horny guy raoe him till he dies.

Punishment to fit the crime and all. If anyone raped my kids I would kill them.

You know people never fail to dissapoint and shock me. Words cannot explain my feelings on this.

Another news story I missed (just as well by the sound of it). Yes, it's one more reason to bring back capital punishment. I never thought I'd be saying this, but recently I can't help thinking it's not only an appropriate sentence, but a necessary deterrent.

And while on the subject (someone tell me if I'm wrong), what the hell's wrong with the idea of bringing back hard labour? I know it sounds gruesome, but for some of the sick crimes we read about these days I think it's quite appropriate (and no, I don't mean it should apply to all prisoners, only those who've done particularly despicable acts). I think the victims and victims' families would sleep a little easier knowing that the perpetrator was working, and working hard and unrewarded, rather than taking university degrees and enjoying a life of comparative luxury.

Oh, and yes, if it was my daughter he'd find me waiting for him when he got out...

I think the prison cells given to these people should reflect the crime - the really sick and twisted crimes should get a pile of hay and a flea infested blanket and a 2 buckets - one for stuff that goes into them (food and water together) and one for stuff to come out of them. thats it!

lesser crimes go up and up in terms of squalor until things like non payment of parking tickets is akin what they have now.

too many prisoners expect their cells to be like the average bedsit.

they deserve to be treated like the scum they are.

The mans cell mates will take "Care" of him I'm sure.
9 years? This means that hell actually serve only 4 years, less any time hes spent inside awaiting trial. This rule applies to ALL sentences, unless the judge in his wisdom specifies that the full term has to be served.

After his time inside, hes allowed out on parole. (If he commits another crime while hes on parole, hes straight back inside, to serve the remainder of his sentence.)

Please remember this the next time you hear someone being sentenced. The public should be made more aware of it and do something about it.

I don't think that capital punishment should be used as a deterrent as it just does not stop people to commit crimes.

We should use it simply as a way to remove people from society who can't or won't accept the rules of decent civilized behaviour that the rest of us try to live by.

when has capital punishment ever been used only as a deterrent? it is not possible.

it is the fact of the punishment that acts as a deterrent.

you can't have one without the other

Hi joko, my point is that the punishment does not act as a deterrent for most people who commit these type of crimes, so forget all that stuff and justification etc... just get rid of them so they can't commit again.
People, you think that is bad. What about the poor new born babies that go thru the same ordeal! Its not a joke,it is reality and it is giving the humanrace a very bad name!I sometimes wich that im a animal because of the sick things we see in life animals dosn't notice this. But on the other hand i dont want to be a animal because some sick ass might just see me as a sex toy!!!Will our eyes be opened or is this sick world going to be a hell for all humans???What can we do but wait and see?
