Now they're all in custody hopefully this poor little girl's murderers will receive the justice due to them.  Dreadful case.

I agree. That's not a 10 year old playing about with makeup, but a professional makeup artist . That's worrying I'd think .

my daughter and all her 10/11 yo friends wear make up occasionally, and for special occasions.  Some of them are better at applying it than others.  i don't understand why people are so shivery about it

I agree - professional - Many Middle Eastern, sub Asian and Chinese have their children sit ahead of tacky photographs of them.

I don't like seeing girls of Sara's age in make up but her mother said Sara was a very 'girly girl' and loved being made up.   

I have seem some hysteria on other websites about the photo - even insisting that her arm is bandaged (it is clearly sunlight) - and it possible that her father's partner could have made her up.  A lot of young girls are image conscious and selfie mad these days, sadly.

For those wondering why the fuss over that little girl's appearance, to put it mildly, there's something quite distasteful about sexualising children.  That's not play makeup and that chills me to the bone.

As I said, naomi, I don't like it myself but it is not unusual for girls of that age, these days.  My daughters were around 13 when they took an interest in  make up, my grand daughters younger but they were not allowed out wearing it, not even for parties.

I think it's unusual.  Kids play.  That to me doesn't look like playing.

Little girls also go to pamper parties, nail parties  and make up parties these days.   If you google you'll find lots aimed at the 8-13 year olds.  I won't link but check out Little Diva Pamper Parties for 3 years and up, including make up, hot manicure, hot tub....

My 3 year olds preferred splashing in muddy puddles and playing with her brothers' toy cars

I thought that photo of the young girl looked out of place, for want of a better phrase. Then I thought - Pakistan, arranged marriages. The legal age for marriage there is 18 for men and 16 for women.

My guess has always been that they wanted her to agree to an arranged marriage and she refused, hence, great dis-honour equals elimination. Tis only a guess though!

It is unusual for a girl that young to be forewarned of an arranged marriage, they usually believe they are going on holiday to relatives in Pakistan and it is sprung on them last minute.

Stops them telling their teachers or anyone else.
