Coutts have offered to reinstate Nigel Farage’s bank accounts:

https://news.sky.com/story/nigel-farage-says-coutts-has-offered-to-reinstate-his-bank-accounts-12931463#:~:text=Sky%20News-,Nigel%20Farage%20says%20Coutts%20has%20offered%20to%20reinstate%20his%20bank,been%20affected%20by%20account%20closures.

Of the 40 page dossier the bank compiled on Mr Farage, it is said that “Ultimately it concludes the former Brexit Party leader's views are ‘at odds with our position as an inclusive organisation’.”

I wonder if the bank’s interim chief Executive is now added to the list of all those who are wrong are still wrong (whilst one esteemed member on here and a woman on YouTube are still right).

Hymie; //If such a meeting takes place, Coutts/NatWest should invite me to attend, // Yes, that will really put the wind up them.

A bank should not be able to, johhny, because poor government has made banking facilities a necessary service in present day society. It, the bank, therefore, must treat all fairly. It is not some retailer who has more leeway in opting not to agree a trade deal. A supplier of vital services must have obligations to all in society, especially where that particular industry all try to ban the same individual and keep their reasons to themselves.
‘ poor government has made banking facilities a necessary service in present day society’

Can you expand on that, OG?
Zacs-Master (aka Mr Nasty)
//You really need to get your info from a more reliable source than the right wing rags you read.//

I got my information from Nigel Farage himself, who said so on television. He was an MEP for 20 years so I think he should know better than your 'rags'.
//You really need to get your info from a more reliable source//

Having quoted Wikipedia!!
OG, you are correct. It is pretty nigh on impossible to live in todays society without a bank account. Cant even get your dole in cash.

So the Banking licence needs to be written such that Banks cannot close or refuse to open an account.

Having said that the account they should be 'forced' to open should be basic banking with debit card (like an under 18 account). Credit facilities, card or loan should still be at the discretion of the Bank.

Where an individual falls foul of AML or similar the account should only be closed if Plod are involved and it should be a Court decision. Banks should not be Judge and Jury.

at my 11:11 post, read 'instigation' (into the EU) for 'invention'
Khandro (aka Mr Ignorant), I gave 3 separate sources showing that PEP didn’t originate in Brussels / the EU. Non of them are “rags”. If you still believe Farage over and above these 3 sources you’re in danger of looking like Hymie on the banking threads!
Most European countries have national banks

Since the Post Office Bank was nationalised Britain no longer has one, is it time to form one?
ZM I have corrected that PEPs were not invented by Brussels but were instigated into the European banking system by them & Nigel Farage, as usual is correct.
Khandro - so you admit Farage was wrong when he said it on tv?
naomi... i think your misunderstand point regarding Brexit... his simply trying to divert the thread from Farage and Coutts onto his topic of yesterday about fools who emigrated and voted for Brexit (fooled by Farage, Gove etc) and now have no UK bank accounts... which also debunked yesterday

//The legitimate reason to close the accounts was Brexit//

How is that legitimate?
-----

I think you are a little confused, Naomi.

Hymie was referring to the people who live outside the UK (in an EU country) and held a UK bank account. Depending where they live, some have had to make alternative banking arrangements.
So back to my original question; is Farage now going to campaign on behalf of all those fools who voted for Brexit and lost their bank accounts as a result?
If you called me a fool to my face i'd put you in A&E
If you ever meet Lord Deben – you’d better put him in A&E too.

ZM // so you admit Farage was wrong when he said it on tv?//
No I was wrong in writing 'Invention', he most likely said, 'it came from the EU' I wasn't quoting him verbatim, it was a couple of weeks ago.

My God, does someone have to live with you?
Bob/NJ, you’re both right. Thanks. I have got it mixed up. Hard to keep track of where these conversations are going - or coming from - at times.
// is Farage now going to campaign on behalf of all those fools who voted for Brexit and lost their bank accounts as a result?//

Dont know but he is for Gina Miller - arch remainer.

Some people, unlike you are not besotted by Brexit. You lost get over it and put the sour grapes down.

//So back to my original question; is Farage now going to campaign on behalf of all those fools who voted for Brexit and lost their bank accounts as a result?//

The original question is not yours, it's mine. Your supplementary question has nothing to do with mine. The Farage/Coutts affair has nothing to do with people who had to change their banking arrangements following Brexit and it's simply a diversion away from the original point (which, in case it passed you by, was composed with you in mind),

So how about you answer that first?
Gina Miller’s account was opened in error – the bank in question does not allow accounts of political parties. Once the bank became aware of the error (I’m not sure whether Gina Miller was not fully forthcoming about the account purpose, or the bank failed to read her application), they closed the account.

I doubt very much that this idiot will persuade her bank to re-open an account which is against their stated rules (even if it was the bank’s fault in originally opening the account) – but what with fools believing every word this liar says, who knows.
