Has anyone any idea how much compo (or damages) Mr Farage will be entitled to?
I'm sure I read on twitter it could be millions (Bound to be true then)

Enough to open an account with Coutts...oh wait...

I read that its a % of the annual profits for the Company
I think many are getting confused with how much the FCA/PRA and fines under the Data Protection Act will/could be rather than how much compo Mr Farage could get.

Having said that they did cause Mr Farage considerable reputational damage (some still wont accept the truth) so compo to him could be substantial.
//I read that its a % of the annual profits for the Company//

That would be the fines I think you are talking about.

Nat West seriously breached their confidentiality, I would be very surprised if they didnt get a large fine.

I thought a breach of the GDPR would result in a massive fine which would not all go to Mr Farage
Correct, the fine goes into the Treasury in some shape or form I would have thought.

Mr Farage would have to take out a civil action to get a good sum paid out. And there is the problem, Nat West (as do all other Banks) have an army of briefs and a bottomless pit of cash to attempt to thwart him (and others). They just keep dragging it on hoping the other side caves in because the cost is getting high and they will loose their nerve.

Or they could just settle OOC - The share price has started to fall and the publicity will surely be a factor
Possibly, but this lot are arrogant and pig headed. The board backing a person that leaked confidential details (and also spread malicious and incorrect content) says it all.

More heads should roll. No10, being the custodian of the tax payers share of this company is on the war path. And rightly so.
Hi Ric.ror
There is I regret hem hem - the usual confusion between criminal process and the civil

In the ladybird book of nardy crimes I read
1. Data protection does involve some crimes most of it is civil
2. the charges have to specified - "he was nardy" will NOT do
3. burden is on the DP authorities ( or CPS) - they have to prove eveything
4. to a criminal standard
5. the finding is a verdict, the consequences are prison, branding, cutting off of ears, fines,
6. fines are payable to the authorities not the victim ( the Nige)

Now.... if you were in France and there is criminal proces - you can hang a civil claim for damages on it ( parti civil) and be done with it. There is no possibility of that in our wonderful brexit liberated paradise.

Just to prove what a Bell you are. What on earth has Brexit got to do with this?
Oh dear, boo hoo hoo. I tried to open an account too but was turned down. Should I apply for compo?
You really haven't followed this have you, maggiebee.
and so you have to bring a separate civil case
and ay hev to say I am not sure where he will apply
possibly Breach of Confidence and loss from it

He says statements are defamatory - money grabbing grifter or is that harry and Megz?

and his company, can he sue for that , or does the company hae to bring its own action?

Farage will want restuitive damages ( lu-lu for when his company cdnt trade - that will be based on his turnover) but Nat West may put up a fight over that ( seager v copydex spings to this poster's mind)

so we will have to wait and see
whilst the Nige spends £500-£1000 a HOUR finding out his best chances

//You really haven't followed this have you, maggiebee// No I haven't Naomi, but read enough to think it was just a load of tripe. Another "entitled" nonentity bumping his gums. Who cares anyway?

er tush Naomi she has followed it better than a lof on AB !
.
what a Bell you are. What on earth has Brexit got to do with this? ( asks a PP admirer)
come come - ding a ling - in the EU paradise, a bank acct is an EU right. Ironically as the arch brexiteer the Nige points out !

YMF I think your bell has gone " durrrrr"
haw haw haw

Another "entitled" nonentity bumping her gums. Who cares anyway?

god a somewhat severe description of yourself, maggie....
Perhaps you should look a bit closer, maggiebee, because everyone should care about this, regardless of who they are, or how much money they have, or their standing in life. I would have hoped this would be unthinkable in a country that allegedly prides itself on freedoms.

So, the self-serving ex-Merchant Banker who complicity contributed to the Banking Crisis of 2010 comes up smelling of roses again.

He knew a win-win situation when it came along - he knew the Bank had to endure his lies or break the confidentiality agreement. Naively the Board chose the latter.
Geoffrey, what lies?
