I am also practicing sitting up straight. My ankles are crossed,my back is not touching the chair back but my shoulder blades are feeling the strain. Why?

Sorry you felt the strain, Tilly. I think any sort of stretching - even simple for posture - would mean ankles are not crossed, feet flat on the ground and slightly apart. I was googling and found lots of equipment to set my nerves jangling. Actually a simple broom stave can work well. My posture is poor now but I am old, good for you trying :)
