For at least 45 minutes, loud, non stop thundering. Really weird. My son looked it up on Internet. It's called, Active elevated thunderstorms. Apparently, even thought we can't see it, there's lightning every 1-2 minutes that sets the continously lightning off. In all my life I've never experienced this, same with OH. Have any of you?

It's better not start here. Yesterday was the first day of warmth and sun on this bit of the East Coast. Just settling into it.

I'll turn Wiccan if I have to, to chant and drive thunder away!!!!!!!
I was caught out driving back from the shops, in a huge hailstorm, waves of ice and water laashing my windscreen. I should have stopped till it passed but didn't dare to, as I literally couldn't see a thing but just had to hope that if I came close to another car it would have lights on (like me). It lasted about 5 minutes. Lots of thunder but no, hardly any lightning.

Yes, really weird. It's still rumbling on.. The heat has been unbearable, extremely humid. Hope you continue to have more settled weather, Jourdain. :-)
Jno, that must have been quite scary for you! Glad you made it home safely.
Yes, we have had lightning, thunder and torrential rains here in South Manchester earlier. One of the thunderclaps scared me to death, really really loud and felt like it was right above my head.
On Saturday night I heard what sounded like a firework bang, then after a while, another and finally a third one.
That turned out to be thunder in another part of Manchester where residents there said it was like a bomb going off.

Quite scary at times, Barsel. The continual boom boom from the thunder went on for about an hour. My husband said it sounds like we're under attack! Really weird..
Warm and quiet in Lanzarote.

We're not jealous Doug, honest! Enjoy :-)
I've heard low, continuous rumbling thunder for 20 minutes or so but not as you describe.
I've heard loud crashing, banging thunder over longer periods but they have been individual sounds, not continuous, sometimes with the low rumble in the background.
