Chaos At Dover

Thousands of coach and car passengers endured a miserable Wait .
Many of them all through the night for their much awaited Easter Holiday
Stormy weather and the French were blamed by the UK Government .
But the Brits were just getting a taste of what they signed up for with Brexit When voted to become "Third Country Nationals" in the eyes of the EU... And it can only get worse....You are no longer in the EU so you have to join the non EU queues at ports and airports You voted for it . Enjoy.

You must have been really unlucky, Hymie. I have made six trips to Europe in the past 18 months or so and on every occasion I have passed through customs and border control with next to no delay. In fact on some occasions it has taken me longer to get back into the UK than it did to enter my European destinations.

It seems quite incredible really that most normal countries (i.e. those outside the EU) seem able to cope without the sort of behaviour by their border staff that you suffered in the EU. What the EU could really do with is transferring some of their border staff to the Italian island of Lampedusa where there are some real “undesirables” seeking to enter their territory (as opposed to people seeking to enter just to spend a load of their money).

What I’d really like is for the UK to provide a “UK Passport Holders only” channel at our ports and airports.

My daughter and family just returned from the EU last week. No problems anywhere. They must have been to various countries at least 6 times in the last 18 months - all without problems. They don't use Dover and usually fly from a northern airport.
When we lived in France, we still had to show our passports and sometimes got held up for all sorts of reasons (usually no French staff) and we left before Brexit.

I am anti brexit but that is only a tiny part of the delays.
1 French strikes
2 bad weather yesterday caused backlog
3 Easter holidays increased demand
4 brexit means everyone on the coach now must get off

Sunny Dave @ 15.04 You asked to become subject to the 90 day rule which means your stay in the EU is now limited .That is what you Brexiteers voted for. So now your British passports have lost value ,and they have to be policed and stamped,and every page examined for evidence of recent stays in the EU .So a coach load of 50 persons is going to take a very long time and if loads of coaches are in the queue . Then you get what you voted for.

In the last two years I've flown a dozen or so times to a number of European countries, and I have not experienced any delays.

If my experiences are anything to go by, gulliver is talking nonsense (who'd have thought!).

Dave did not want Brexit, after giving it much thought and research. He voted remain. The common travel area means he can reside in Ireland as long as he wants as long as he keeps on the right side of me. :-)
Until his Irish passport arrives a quiet word and smile from me gets him into an EU queue....learned that one long ago. ;-)

Dave's point was that he is sickened by you gloating at the problems that travellers and families may experience for whatever reason.
There could be polite and reasonable discussions between Leavers and Remainers were it not for your boringly repetitive harangues.
