There are some awfully sad and sour people on this thread. Holier than thou springs to mind. I personally, wouldn't condemn anyone to a loveless life of misery and I wouldn't condemn them for seeking and finding happiness either.

I like Camilla. She will always be a queen in Charles eyes.
Bon Chance to them both.
I'm surprised that this thread has gone so far without a link to the official website of the Royal Family (where, one might assume, they know a thing or two about formal titles):
https://www.royal.uk/queen-consort

Further, Aunty Beeb usually gets such things right too and therefore might be regarded as reasonably authoritative. Aunty's staff are in accordance with those at Sky News:

TCL linked to that a while ago, but it doesn't seem to have changed anyone's mind, probably because we're all tired of expertise.
I wish there was a 'like' button for some of your comments Naomi...! Anyway, I've just read up that Camilla is currently Queen Consort, but after the King's coronation, she will officially become Queen.

To be fair to CHRIS, I quoted from the website but didn't post a link.
She is Queen Consort, will become Queen, but presumably (whatever happens) can't be Queen Mum.
Thanks smudge.
C'mon Tora, give Buen' BA.

Every day's a school day. Innit.

I do not deny that technically she is Queen consort but it is not necessary to add that all the time. There are lots of qualifying suffixes that never get used. When the late QEII was heir she was technically Heir presumptive, yet that word was never used. The wife of a King is a Queen, end of.

smudge: "Anyway, I've just read up that Camilla is currently Queen Consort, but after the King's coronation, she will officially become Queen. " - the coronation changes nothing, it is merely a ceremony, there is no legal relevance to it at all. The King became the King when Her Majesty passed and his wife became the Queen consort. I'm not arguing about that I am saying it is necessarily rude to keep using the term. She is the Queen, end of.
I really like Camilla and she has never sought the limelight. I never liked Diana or the way she courted the press. I never could understand her popularity. Poor Charles was pushed into that marriage.
Off subject, but I have to say Smudge,
that it's great to have you back again.
I think you are right, TTT. Any woman married to a King (unless it is a morganatic marriage) takes his title. Because she does not have the personal right to reign, she is a consort, but it is completely unnecessary to tag that on all the time. Every wife of a reigning male monarch has been a Queen consort, with the exception of Mary II. There have been Queens that have had a personal right to reign who have had consorts.

Although, personally, I would take absolutely no notice of the media, since they still refer to the Princess of Wales as Kate Middleton and some even refer to the late Princess of Wales as Diana Spencer.

cheers barmaid, I'd give you BA but I already gave that out.
I don't feel qualified to call Camilla nasty names as I don't know her personally, have never met her and am unlikely to.
All I know is the story of 2 people who have loved each other for a long time and have always wanted to be together.
Now they are married and getting on with the job in hand and hopefully still happy.
It happens all the time, all over the world, life is not a bowl of cherries, things happen and we have to move on.
I would never begrudge anyone a chance at happiness.
Soon they will be crowned King and Queen and long may they reign.
i'm surprised at your response barsel - not knowing/not having met prince harry and his wife doesnt seem to deter you from saying your thoughts about them (naomi too)
As I've said before, comparisons don't always work, and comparing Meghan with Camilla definitely doesn't work.
Unless you've been living under a rock these past years, you must agree that one gets a hell of a lot more criticism than the other, and rightly so.
Meghan is despised by people in different countries for the way she has behaved since joining the RF while Camilla has got on with her support for the King and this country.
ToraToraTora - part of your reply to me read: 'the coronation changes nothing, it is merely a ceremony, there is no legal relevance to it at all'. I didn't say there was a legal relevance, I merely posted the facts up until the coronation - which is Queen Consort to Queen, ok?
Thank you Lottie - that brought tears to my eyes... x
the truth as to the initial interest of Camilla with Charles - when they met, she thought that any potential ruler had 12 inches.....
