It may do, but that does not mean that there are not an equal, and probably greater number of immature people who will derail and kill any discussion if left free reign to do so.

People get carried away, everyone does from time to time.

I did so myself yesterday, I posted an inappropriate comparison in the heat of the moment, and on reflection I regretted it, and had it been posted by someone else, I would have deleted it.

As it turned out, one of my fellow Mods deleted my post, and the snarky nasty posts around it, of which mine was absolutely one.

So yes, we do need monitoring, and even the guardians need guarding, because we can all get a little heated and hasty, we are human, but someone with a cooler head keeping things on the right track is good for everyone.

LJ, no point contacting the editor. We had all this a little while ago. The mods are at liberty to explain their actions - if they choose to. That's why we now have some of the mods hiding beneath 'secret' identities.

I know of appalling ignorance of some mods - mistaking a post on Spiral ( "Engrenages" ) a French tv serial mistaken for an advert for penis enlargement. Matched only by the ignorance of some ABers ( Great War ended at the battle of Waterloo in 1915)

I am glad Prince Harry has come to Lady Hussey's defence. On the face of it it seems he has acted sincerely and honourably and it's about the only sensible statement he seems to have made for a long, long, time.
