as truss seems likely to backpedal on her right-wing mini-budget this afternoon the party looks too divided to actually agree on anything despite having a huge majority…

apart from brexit, what do they actually want to do?

You should join the Conservative Party, maggiebee. They have some bizarre ideas too.
And I think that anyone with a modicum of sense could see it coming!

“ The Conservatives have only ever been in power to make the rich richer as well as creating opportunities for others to become rich. The trickle-down effect then makes the rest of the general population better off.”

evidently not all conservatives believe this… why have they not supported the mini-budget? The ideology behind it was very close to this one.
Indeed lottie. What absolute fools they are.

//The Tories made a big mistake in booting out a competent PM and the electorate can see that. Labour will get back in when their chance comes//

Glaring spelling error, you missed out ‘in’ before competent.
Here are the pledges that this Government were elected on. Being generous, they have done half of it.

1. Increase the number of nurses by 50,000
2. Leave the EU in January
3. No income tax, VAT or National Insurance rises
4. Pensions will rise by at least 2.5% per year
5. No-one will sell their home to pay for care
6. Reach net zero by 2050
7. Spend £6.3bn on 2.2 million disadvantaged homes
8. Introduce a points-based immigration system
9. Continue the roll out of universal credit
10. Create 250,000 extra childcare places
11. Freeze of student tuition fees at £9,250
12. A new Manchester to Leeds rail line
13. Launch a democracy commission

Perhaps they should continue working through this list. This is their mandate.
In fairness, Gromit, they did have a bit of a glitch not long into their tenure ... but there's probably not a lot of point in reminding you of that. Fairness is not something you hold dear.
"apart from brexit, what do they actually want to do? " - brexit is done, it's only 5C remoaners that keep digging it up.

//In fairness, Gromit, they did have a bit of a glitch not long into their tenure//

Glitch? I was led to believe his name is Boris? Oh well…..
// Gromit, Fairness is not something you hold dear. //

It is their list, I don’t think you can blame the pandemic for the pledges they haven’t done.
They have borrowed hundreds of £Billions, yet no more nursery places, no improvement to bad housing, no new rail line.
In fairness the pandemic did not stop them fulfilling those promises.
//The Tories made a big mistake in booting out a competent PM//

Ha ha ha ha he he he you're such a wag William! He he ha ha
Chortle
*wipes tear from eye*
Heh...

Wait, you were being serious weren't you.
aaaand … then he was gone.

Truss will follow I’d imagine.
She can’t really survive
Stating the bleeding obvious - the Tory members couldn't have voted in Truss if their MPs hadn't put her forward. So she must have had some support from MPs or was a "least worst" option.
// I don’t think you can blame the pandemic for the pledges they haven’t done//

Good God, it must be weird living on planet Gromit.

Pledges cost money, there is little left for anything that wont boost the economy due to the lockdowns you all wanted. I said this would happen nut no I was the bad guy over and over again.

Well you all wanted it so now pay for it.
'evidently not all conservatives believe this… why have they not supported the mini-budget? The ideology behind it was very close to this one.'

Because Ms Truss has taken the principles too far.
// I don’t think you can blame the pandemic for the pledges they haven’t done//

Think a bit harder, gromit.
// Pledges cost money, there is little left for anything that wont boost the economy due to the lockdowns you all wanted. //
But there is money for tax cuts for the most wealthy. You really don’t get it do you YMB?

i can understand people saying that covid got in the way of their programme but it does not seem to me that the party really stands for anything… the mini-budget looked very “tory” to me but the party has launched a rebellion over it.
