91 years old and the trial won't start for another year.

Surely they'd be as well not bothering with all the expense and just press the wee man for some cash back then call it quits.
Not like he's going to get hard time in any event.

At just 5'3" he could do with a bit of a stretch.

Right back atcha!

come on, come on
read the article
this is a tax fraud case - he has been charged with tax fraud
failing to declare an eye wateringly large trust ( only which he didnt pay 20% tax ) another eye waterinly large amount
which is a crime and may result in a fine of the amount not paid

THEN
there is the issue of his tax - he didnt pay tax and so he has to pay that
AND a penalty which shall not exceed the amount of tax not paid
( pains and penalties)

and the interest thereon

but you really knew that - innit
The crime is personal - but the tax charge will survive his death

Note readers - the trust wasnt £500 - but £500m
what a silly foo-foo not to declare a big one like that ( the trust you dirty boy) to the tax man. I gasp at the unwisdom of such a coure of action
are you counting
so if he shoulda paid lets us say £50m
then he is now in for £50m fine plus £50m unpaid tax plus £50m pains and penalties plus interest to be calculated.

oi oi oi - - - foo even
he perhaps figured he'd be dead before anyone noticed and his heirs and assigns would have to sort it out. But a magnanimous god has ensured he lived long enough to see the inside of Southwark Crown Court.
I assume they need a guilty verdict to grab the cash and of course as said above innocent until proven guilty. Otherwise where does it stop?
