Me too
I'm sorry. He offered a real glimpse of hope and a peaceful future.
And all the good work he done is slowly.being unravelled by the dictator in charge nowadays.

RIP
"Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev has died, according to Russia's Interfax News Agency."

Hmmmm - I wonder.
Yeah Gorby was a rare breed, It takes real courage to realise and admit your system is failing and then to work with the west to change it. The History books will show that he played a major part in bringing down the Berlin wall. Shame what has happened now.
He was reported to be really ill with kidney problems back in June this year.

RIP MG.

Shame it wasn't the incumbent.
Well said, TTT.
That’s a shame. History will thankfully be kind to him.
The West can only hope that whoever follows the psychopath Putin has a streak of Gorbachev in him.

RIP

The interesting thing is Tora it wasn’t only Gorbachev who realised communism was failing.
The KGB realised it also and had already starred squirrelling away money in the west for the fateful time.
The seeds of what happened in an independent Russia - Putin’s FSB revolution - were sown then
That is sad. He brought about positive changes and now the Ukrainian people and wider have to suffer with this despot!

RIP
Well the news is spreading now and considering his age of 92 years it probably is true.

ich, you must be partly psychic to have that av now.
i didnt realise he wasnt already dead!
Gorbachev was certainly the man for the moment; we can be grateful to him, Reagan and Thatcher for their part in ending the Cold War. What a terrible state of affairs now, though.
