Not a war torn country and mostly young men so why are we accommodating them? given they could apply for a Visa to come in legally if they wanted to!
They should be sent back immediately yet they aren’t !!

But whatever ANY Government tries, they will be knocked back and browbeaten by, in turn, the Human Rights brigade, any number of organisations set up to help these people and the many, many do-gooders who close their eyes to the damage all these illegals are causing to our country by swamping the NHS and creaming off the many benefits afforded to them !! I fear...

None of them are coming from war torn countries. France is perfectly safe.

That’s very true Naomi but Albanians can apply for a Visa, they don’t !!! It’s been said that both sides ( France and UK) know exactly where they get in their dinghy’s to make the journey yet they don’t get stopped
I bet most of them come here with criminal intent - damn savages should be shipped out as soon as they land.
or better still - not allowed to land!

At who’s cost Dave?
As has been said a few times on here, Bobs, why would the French want to stop them 'leaving' France?
As for why they are not sent back? Too many successive governments have failed to come up with a legally air-tight plan to do just that. They'd be better off trying to employ some of the legal experts from the 'other side' - the ones who totally outsmart the government's legal team time after time.
Anyone can apply for a visa surely. Not just Albanians. For a holiday
I don’t think the people who cross the channel are coming for a holiday though.
Personally I believe the government should simply charter a ferry once a week and charge any migrants who want to make the trip the going rate that they pay for a voyage in a rubber boat (which appears to be about £3,000 each). This would free up Border Farce staff and they could be transferred to Gatwick where they could spend their time more usefully frisking incoming passengers for contraband fags and booze. It would also allow the RNLI to use its resources for its main purpose - to rescue those imperilled on the briny through no fault of their own.

I really don't know why this pathetic charade continues.
It's now an invasion and should be treated as such.

maybe time to put mines in the channel apart from authorised ferry/cruiser routes
The Albanians who come aren’t asylum seekers tho presumably.
They are trafficked by people smugglers - which is a big problem in Albania - with the intention of disappearing into the UK’s burgeoning black economy

Ken even if they ( Albanians, or lawyers for them , which I’m sure they’d be lining up)took their case to the ECOHR,, they have no right to ‘invade’ our country ,they can’t claim they’re being persecuted
I didn't say they had a right, Bobbi. Our lawyers are thwarted time after time when trying to deport those we consider illegals. I suggested our government employs some of 'their' lawyers' - they're the ones who seem to know all the loopholes. Either that or introduce laws which mean we do actually have complete control of our borders.
People cross the channel illegally for a variety of reason.
In December the official line was

// The latest official data from the Home Office on the nationality of those crossing the Channel stated that of the 24,000 people who have entered the UK through crossing the Channel this year the majority are Iranian (at around 29%) with large numbers also hailing from Iraq (20%), Sudan (11%), Syria (11%) and Vietnam (9%). //

No mention of Albanians. Seems odd. Perhaps the Iranians and Iraqis are some how getting Albanian documents and are producing those ?
//No mention of Albanians.//

It doesn't matter who they are. None of them are fleeing danger and none of them have a right to come here illegally.
I fear it's too late and have thought this for a very long time - way too soft in this country.

Not if we close all the loopholes.
More problems with the headline. Over 18,000 have crossed the channel so fare this year, and just over 1000 have claimed to be Albanian. So the 4 out of 10 (40%) is bogus nonsense.

// A total of 1,075 Albanians crossed the Channel in small boats organised by people-smuggling gangs //

Does anybody ever watch the Border Force type of programmes on Pick (channel 36 freeview) ? Australia and New Zealand are so much stricter than us and will stand no nonsense from anybody. Sometimes I even think they are being a tad mean when they send a weeping young woman back to her own country, but they are THEIR rules and it works for them. Like I said, way too soft here.
