//Armenia is Christian officially but it is home to a lot of Sunnis.//

Lol, couldn’t help himself!
Question Author
do statements of fact disturb you then?
just to be clear: Armenia was the first Christian country, from a time when ancient Brits were still worshipping horned gods.
From state.gov

Section I. Religious Demography

The U.S. government estimates the total population at 3.0 million (midyear 2019 estimate). According to the 2011 census, approximately 92 percent of the population identifies as Armenian Orthodox. Other religious groups include Roman Catholics, Armenian Uniate (Mekhitarist) Catholics, Orthodox Christians, evangelical Christians, including Armenian Evangelical Church adherents, Pentecostals, Seventh-day Adventists, Baptists, charismatic Christians, and Jehovah’s Witnesses. There are also followers of the Church of Jesus Christ and of the Holy Apostolic Catholic Assyrian Church of the East, Molokan Christians, Yezidis, Jews, Baha’is, Shia Muslims, Sunni Muslims, and pagans, who are adherents to a pre-Christian faith. According to an International Republican Institute (IRI) poll released in 2018, 94 percent of the country’s population identifies as Armenian Apostolic, 2 percent Catholic (includes all rites), 3 percent other, and 1 percent none. A May IRI poll listed 94 percent of the population as Armenian Orthodox, 4 percent other, and 1 percent none, with no mention of Catholic affiliation. According to members of the Jewish community, there are approximately 800 to 1,000 Jews in the country.

According to the country’s 2011 census, there are more than 35,000 Yezidis, with some more recent estimates suggesting approximately 50,000. Yezidis are concentrated primarily in agricultural areas northwest of Yerevan around Mount Aragats. Armenian Uniate Catholics live primarily in the north. Most Muslims are Shia, including Iranians and temporary residents from the Middle East.

How odd, Sunnis get mentioned once but barely a ripple?
Seems they are outnumbered by Shias?
So in your post, what do you define as ‘a lot’?
Or are you wishing now that you had actually used the word you really wanted to?
Question Author
I just said there were some there, thank you for verifying.
Question Author
I used one flavour of muslim, I wasn't trying to do a complete demography. A small percentage of a lot can still be a lot. Plenty enough to have a few nutters anyway.
So not actually a lot then as you claimed, the only ‘statement of fact’ is indeed your fevered imagination and prejudice, that’s the ‘disturbing’ part.

Question Author
sorry I said a "lot" - I retract that.
Armenia is a Christian country but there are some Muslims. Better?
Question Author
I don't see how that is prejudice though.
Tora, do you recall your very similarly titled post re the Manchester Arndale stabbings?

Well, this was the conclusion following your very similar speculation as to the ethnicity / religious persuasion of the perp:
'Detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing North West found no ideological motive for the attacks'
https://www.gmp.police.uk/news/greater-manchester/news/news/2022/january/attacker-at-arndale-centre-in-2019-sentenced-for-stabbing-five-people/
"I don't see how that is prejudice though."

Unlike, "Lets Do The Usual Dance......."?
Question Author
ZM I have not offered an opinion here.
Then why have you mentioned the number of Sunni Muslims in Armenia?
Question Author
ZM, It was in response to Gromit saying that it was a Christian country, I merely pointed out that it's not all Christian.
What then, was the meaning behind your headline, "Lets Do The Usual Dance......."?

// I used one flavour of muslim, I wasn't trying to do a complete demography. A small percentage of a lot can still be a lot. Plenty enough to have a few nutters anyway.//

Are you implying religious or psychopathic?
Actually, best not answer that .
It's not very likely that the driver is a Muslim, but if they are then it's more likely to be from the German side than the Armenian side ...
C'mon Tora, we've called you out, son.
Question Author
ZM: //What then, was the meaning behind your headline, "Lets Do The Usual Dance......."? // - come on you know me well enough, do a search for "Usual Dance" - It's something of a tradition, similar to my PMQs threads.

//If it was an accident German plod would have said so immediately.

This happened right near the 2016 'incident'.

Germany has some real problems these days. Getting like the USA.//

In what respect? Unless Germany is heading the school-shooting table in Western Europe?
What’s your comparison?
