He'll be fine once the bandwagon moves on.
If he can survive not paying his taxes, he can survive this.
Totally agree with Mozz
It is just an act
Comedians have made Holocaust jokes for years
Ricky Gervais has made jokes about the Holocaust at Golden Globe ceremonies and his stand up act and nobody has said a word

The audience that pay to see Carr know exactly what they are getting

Strange that other high profile Jewish comedians and friends of his have made no complaints ?

Just more ‘offended on behalf of someone else’ snowflakery
barry....I didn't know Bernard Manning's career, had floundered, bsed on the popularity of the Embassy Club in Manchester which was always packed.
Medical and Law society clubs in the Manchester area invariably had their "thrashes" at the Embassy Club.
Whoopi Goldberg has 'form'.

//Whoopi has told in the past of choosing her stage name and Goldberg because her mother thought it would 'get it further in Hollywood'//

Not really. His crass comments weren't about Jews.
From the bbc link :

Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries said the comments were "abhorrent and they just shouldn't be on television".
She suggested the government could legislate to stop comedy people find offensive being shown on streaming platforms.

Will they include parliament coverage and her cringeworthy interviews in that ? Lol

But they were about the Holocaust

In that case shall we wait and see what Tyson Fury makes of his remarks ?
He does these deliberately bad taste stuff. I'm surprised there's suddenly a fuss being made. Hasn't been before.

Is it possible that some people in the media don't see the difference between ...
(a) thinking that the joke is funny, and
(b) thinking that the subject matter is funny?

No he didn't. The joke was about Travellers. There are plenty here who denigrate them on a "serious" thread, but are objecting to a joke about them?
It's a really badly worded link, as it "rewords" it- and even he says many times, there is a big difference between laughing at how people think, and actually believing it.
If it isn't for you, don't watch him. I wish we would stop trying to cancel comedy, because it isn't always to everyone's taste.

Agreed - travellers are often a blight on society & many folks wish they would disappear. Murdering them is a bit extreme though.
Jimmy care has long told controversial jokes. This one is from years ago and he’s still on mainstream TV:

If comedians were forced to only crack jokes about non-offensive subjects, there'd be no comedy. Someone, somewhere will always be offended. Quite often on behalf of someone else!
Personally i find Jimmy Carr to be one of the funniest out there but that's because i can see a joke for what it is.
Dave, it wasn't serious... it was taking the pee about people's views on them. Slightly shocking, which is often what makes people laugh. I watched the whole show, in context, and laughed, partly from slight disbelief... it doesn't, obviously, mean I think it's fine to slaughter people.
'Controversial' is an over-used word.
But Bernard Manning really was funny! When he said stories like the one about the Jewish Kamikaze pilot crashing his plane in his brother- in-law's scrap yard, no Jew would ever be offended by that, in fact they would no doubt have a good laugh.
^
Maybe true, Khandro, but you can bet someone would be offended on their behalf:-/
Aye, the indoor Pakistani/Italian breakers next door with the slogan 'Allah Under One Roof'
