Well, I guess that would be fine, as long as, like the MOBOs, they are not race specific and the mention of colour is only used to describe the music genres.
I only said it out of reverence to AOG. The fact is that we both know that any attempt at MOWO or anything else with White instead of Black in its name would cause a mass media nervous breakdown in 5 minutes flat.
From Wikipedia,

"Rock and roll (often written as rock & roll, rock 'n' roll, or rock 'n roll) is a genre of popular music that evolved in the United States during the late 1940s and early 1950s.
It originated from black American music such as gospel, jump blues, jazz, boogie woogie, rhythm and blues, as well as country music. While rock and roll's formative elements can be heard in blues records from the 1920s and in country records of the 1930s, the genre did not acquire its name until 1954."
madrigal music?
Plenty of white artists have won MOBO awards and there are music awards for all types of music including classical, country, rock n roll, electric, Scottish traditional, folk - everything you can think of.

I know mate, I'm only paying lip service to the spirit of the thread too.

If the MOJOs were intended to be awarded to only artists of an "ethnic" (I don't know if that's the correct terminology or not, I'm afraid half the time I do not know what is acceptable and what isn't) background, then I'd agree that they are racist. Thankfully they are not, and acts of any creed and colour can win.
I do believe some think there was no such thing as music in England before we were visited by poc.
I'm sure you're correct Roy, but I suspect that it falls outside the MOBOs' remit.
roy, most British people mock or sneer at our trad folk music but I don't believe anyone thinks that there was no music at all over the last few centuries
Surely the fact that there is music that originates from "white origins" justifies the MOBOs' name, insomuch as it explains the genres it covers?
