Please don't be shocked, but yesterday I went through a red light. Well, it was amber when I started to go through it, but it was a large junction and it changed to red as I was going through it.
The car on the inside lane to me stopped, but I carried on when really I could have stopped.
If there are cameras at that junction, am I going to be in trouble?

If you were caught, three penalty points and £100 fine

Oh dear. I could kick myself.

Any idea when I will know?
I'll be dreading the post coming everyday now.
If you don't get the notice through the post in the next 14 days you've got away with it
Have a drive down to the junction and see if there are any cameras if it's going to worry you
Going through an amber light is not an offence. It might depend where the cameras were if any

It isn't very local to me but will be going there next Friday, so I will check then.
If there are cameras, will they be on the top of the lights?
Do you drive a Mercedees or an Aldi...if you do then you only get points if you DONT run a red light.

Dont worry :-)
I’m not sure exactly where but they’ll be positioned to sense when you crossed and take your number.
If the lights were amber you don’t need to worry. I just wondered if maybe there would be other lights further along.
Sometimes at big junctions it’s almost unavoidable to go through a later red light if you’ve gone through in amber.
I’m fairly sure you’ll be ok.
I suspect there’s probably a website you can look up that shows where the cameras are in your area

That's a good idea, I didn't think of that.
Were there any vehicles behind you? There are two extenuating circumstances, this from the highway code.
" AMBER means ‘Stop’ at the stop line. You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident"
Red light cameras only activate after a light has turned red.

I really don't have any good excuse why I didn't stop, there was nothing behind me, and I had time in which to stop, but, it had been a long day and I just wanted to get home.
I've just taken a screenshot off Google maps and I can't see any cameras, so I will just have to hope I'm in the clear.
Won't do it again that's for sure.
Have been driving for over 50 years and never had a point on my licence.
The police had they been there might have stopped you - if they were bored - and had a quiet word.
Traffic cameras are not going to argue the toss one way or the other :-)
What Barry said - that would be the fine and penalty points - however you won't wait 14 days (they can't wait to get the money) - if it doesn't come within say next Tuesday or Wednesday - you will be ok.
//If you don't get the notice through the post in the next 14 days you've got away with it//

Provided, of course, you are the Registered Keeper of the vehicle, your details are correctly shown on the V5C registration document and those details have nor changed recently.

Depending on the "time into red" you may be offered a course instead of a fixed penalty.
Also just want to let you know if you are unlucky, they will give you an option of sitting an exam (you pay I think £100) - you're at the exam all day and that wipes the points off.
NJ and my post clashed - it's too early for my thinking cap. It is a one day course.

I will just have to hope I don't hear anything .
Thanks for all your answers.
It's not an exam, jenny. It is an online course (held over "Zoom"). It takes about 2.5 hours and all you have to do is pay attention. The cost is slightly less than the fixed penalty, usually around £90. But you are correct - no fine, endorsement or points are involved.
