TCL. I know technically my reply was not re JB as such. But KH is the Vice President and I believed relevant . Sorry .
jno
naomi, if you think Britain would have been on the winning side without the aid of America and the Soviet Union, I can only politely suggest you read more history.

More American soldiers than British died. And something like 30 times as many Russians died. (Those are just military totals. The Soviet civilian total alone was something like 15 million.) Without their self-sacrifice, you'd be speaking Deutsch today.

Russia fought for Russia.
America fought for America

Germany didn't want a fight with Britain (not at that point) it would have been easy to ignore the Nazis and pretend it wasn't our fight.

Your side lost...get over it.
Gerald Ford say out Richard Nixon’s term when he resigned.
Ford stood again in 1976 but was defeated by Carter.
I was not having a go at you ANNE, it was those posts referring to World War II.

12.29 //So does that mean, that should he di,//

That was typed as ‘should he go’. Don’t know what happened there.
yes, gromit, one more term as elected VP as Biden still has more than 2 years to run.
Johnson served the last 14 months of Kennedy's term. He was elected in his own right in 1964 and was eligible to run again in 1968 but declined.
Tricky Dicky is the only Pres to have resigned from office - to date.

Are you getting me mixed up with someone else?

I've never said that to anyone. I don't believe that for a moment.

Typo?
Question Author
SP, No, I'm not getting mixed up. I was responding to your post at 11:34 Sun when for some unaccountable reason you took it upon yourself to comment on my response to jno.
Question Author
Incidentally, SP, I composed a response to your curious advice to me on the Prince Andrew thread which bore no relation to anything I'd said but I couldn't post it because the thread was inexplicably closed .... so sorry about that. I wasn't ignoring you.

Please watch your interactions with other members of AB. You do not need to get personal.
Aye, aye...has someone been promoted?

SP, When people insult my country, I will defend it. Are you a mod?
Kamala is extremely unpopular in the US.
She called Biden a racist and a rapist in the televised debates for Dem leader.
If Biden did have any say in picking her for VP it must have been because no-one would oust him and end up with her.
naomi24

You and I have been on AB for over fifteen years each and in that time I've seen (and maybe you've noticed it too) the level of debate in the News section has worsened over time.

Someone posts a question, it remains on topic for couple of pages then the personal digs start flying and all hell breaks loose.

If we could avoid that happening my guess is that the level of discourse would improve immediately. When someone digs, it's handy to remember that they're only attacking your position not you personally.

As a regular poster, you have it in you power to raise everyone's game. If you take the high road, eventually anyone who doesn't will look a bit weak - like they don't have the skills to build an argument.

Re: am I a moderator.

If I were, I would never say.

Doesn't really help does it? Anyway - enjoy the rest of your thread. There are some interesting (and entirely wrong) answers - I'm sure you've already spotted them!

SP IF you are a mod would you please give PP the same advice when he gets personal with Naomi on practically a daily basis. Thank you. xx
Sorry for going off topic.

My goodness, sp, you really are on a roll today - and it’s helped a great deal. :O)

Thanks LB - It’s a laugh a minute here, isn’t it. :o)
SPICERACK "Kamala is extremely unpopular in the US.
She called Biden a racist and a rapist in the televised debates for Dem leader."

'At the debate, the moderators asked the candidates a question about racial inequalities in policing across the country, and while the question escalated into a discussion among all the candidates, Harris directed a portion of her answer to Biden.

"So, on the issue of race, I couldn't agree more that this is an issue that is still not being talked about truthfully and honestly. I—there is not a Black man I know, be he a relative, a friend or a coworker who has not been the subject of some form of profiling or discrimination," Harris said during the debate. "And I will say also that—that in this campaign, we've also heard—and I'm going to now direct this to Vice President Biden. I do not believe you are a racist and I agree with you when you commit yourself to the importance of finding common ground.'
