empty shelves, low fuel and now, horror of horrors, no bin collections. Just turn the kin thing off, we are mostly vaccinated now so lets just get on with it. 4FS!

All the self employed people are deleting the app. All the workshy drones are uploading it. Stupid stupid scheme.

Agree, it's a pain in the butt !
Turned mine off about two weeks ago
The pings will largely be ignored once the good weather breaks. I see we're in for a few spots of rain on most days next week :-)
"Brexidemic" is causing these shortages , you voted for it , enjoy.

Gulliver, absolute rubbish. This has nothing to do with Brexit.
It is a strange scenario: a voluntary app with a non legal obligation to self isolate.
And the promise of relaxing the “rules”
But not yet.
The obvious course of action is not to use the wretched thing, which I never have.
They need to sort out the issue with school kids having to self isolate (not really a “ping” issue) before the new school year.
Looks like vaccinations are out.

part of the problem is that it's being used as a license to skive.
I dont understand why so many are slavishly using it and getting tested. Just stop doing both then we wont have a problem.
Ping this.

dave50: "I dont understand why so many are slavishly using it and getting tested. Just stop doing both then we wont have a problem. " - because they can legally bunk off work. Anyone who does not want to do that would have deleted the app by now.
I think it's now causing more problems than it's solving. I've never had the app - but I do think some are using 'pings' as an excuse to get off work.
Never had their spying app.

Of course it will be used by the workshy.

Best get out and buy some Bog rolls and pasta now!
Except of course that you presumably can’t control when you are pinged.
Turn on the brain. Turn off the app.

ich: "Except of course that you presumably can’t control when you are pinged. " - no but you can keep the app and "check in" to as many places as possible and take full advantage of it if you are pinged. Anyone with any sense who wants this madness to end will delete the app.
I think there is a way unfortunately ICK. I think its along the lines of you tell the app you have it and the isolation screen is the same so is being used to present to employers.

ah really YMB?
Hmm maybe.
It seems a bit of a faff to be honest.

I can see some might not complain too much if they did get “pinged’. Presumably there isn’t much surveillance.
Some countries track your every move and descend on you once step out your door!
It is NOT a legal requirement to isolate when pinged. So they cant come Gestapo style to your door.

If contacted via track and trace system it IS as a legal requirement and then you will hear the click of jackboots on your doorstep.
