Do people obey the current lock down restrictions simply because they don't want to get caught and fined or do they feel they have a moral obligation to obey? How many would break the restrictions in order to visit family and friends if it was not illegal to do so? Personally I admit that I would have probably made a personal judgement of the risks involved and gone ahead with visiting family if we considered it safe but of course we can't because it is illegal.

I have no problem keeping my distance from the great, sometimes literally, unwashed and a mask keeps my face warm in this weather.

I just hope to live long enough for the full story of this global debacle to emerge.
//Thats not the intention at all. Your obviously not listening to the briefings NewJudge//

No I'm not listening to the briefings, Bobbin - they bore me to tears. Give me a brief rundown - what is the game plan?
11.58 The latest is , don't do as I do, do as I say. Don't book a holiday if you don't want to risk losing you're deposit. But my name is Matt Hancock, so its ok for me to book because they wouldn't dare keep my deposit. I know my place, and my place is booked. :0))))
TC, nothng wrong with booking a holiday in the hope that restrictions may be lifted in the near future.
Teacake, that's not 'the latest'. He booked a holiday to Cornwall for this coming summer months ago ... but don't let that stop you spinning.
Boris, Don't book a holiday. Grant Shapps, don't book a holiday. Matt Hancock, its going to be a great summer, I'm booked for Cornwall.?
I don't think anyone said "don't book a holiday"
They said "it's too early to know what lockdown might look like in the summer"
At Christmas, the governemtn were criticised for telling people they could have a nirmal Christmas, then snatching it away. Now they are being criticised for the opposite
To answer the question, yes, I do obey current restrictions - but not because of the likely fines for doing otherwise. Just trying to do my bit.
I won't let it stop me, to show what a two faced ........... he is.
Oh, is that what you're showing, Teacake? It seemed something else entirely to me.
12.25 Just go's to show then they still can't get it right, when one of them brags his holiday is already booked. Bad messaging = none conformity. They never learn even after 12 months.
yes, i'd have much preferred he lied!
His holiday was booked months ago probably in the hope things would be better
Grant shapps only said yesterday about not knowing whether people would be able to go on holiday. I don't see what one has to do with the other
Boris Johnson is due to set out how the lockdown in England might be eased in the week beginning 22 February.
that was a quote from The Guardian -
12.37 Lie? just keep ones gob shut would help more.
so if the BBC said to him "have you booked a holiday?" you think he should just have remained silent?
Or perhaps "I can neither confirm nor deny that"
When he told the truth I don’t suppose he bargained for a whizzkid like Teacake to spot his error.
No one did ask him in the first place until he openly told everyone, the reason he did that was to make out every thing was getting much better. Silly man.
12.44, Correct!!
You don,t have to be a minister to see or practice common sense. Its common sense that they wont know if the vaccines are working for a very long time past summer. The only reason infections are on the way down is due to the lock down, until they ease the lock down, whenever that may be, it will then be down to see how the vaccine is working, so that will be months away.
