.. when they are often having to apologise for its atrocities? Surely it's time to disenfranchise the state from religion?

"The evil acts were carried out by evil people & had nothing to do with Catholicism or Christianity in fact they were the antithesis of it." Khandro on the previous page to this. Khandro - the vile abuses were carried out by people in Holy Orders and wearing habits and dog-collars - they were then stoutly denied for many years by a church which knew exactly what...

gness, sounds interesting, he lives in Clonmellon, West Meath.
Ummmm. I have more family in Sligo than you could shake a stick at. But I still don't enter their churches, keep their Mass cards or attend their Mind Masses or funerals and weddings in a Catholic Church any more.
We need to make a stand and I do.
Nice place, TTT. I have only travelled through Meath. We had so many plans for places to explore in Ireland last year to show Dave more of my country but...... :-(

If you're ever down in the south west and visit The Kingdom I'll buy you a pint in Murphy's...if it's bloody well open!!!
Gness, I can't do it. His mum is scary :-) I've known her most of my life, she's looked after my kids, it's a small price to play.

Andy, 7, my dad is the youngest of 13.
Gness...my uncle lived in Meath. A town called Knobber, always makes me smile.

Bizarre.

I take you will now be joining those that claim Muslim terrorists are actually just evil people and have nothing to do with Islam?

gness are you familiar with Donegal? if so do you know a place called Muff?
Missed Andy's post. Indeed. And what my thoughts are on the priest's bicycle on the hedge outside the house can't be said here. Then there was the Father's money. Every Monday no matter how poor a family was.
p.s. I can beat 13. 18 in my dad's family, and every first born girl with the same name as me. :-)
My granddad is from Donegal, Ballyshannon. I don't know muff though.

(sorry, not answering for Gness)
Oh Piggy! Yes I have heard of Muff. Many, many times. But no, I don't know Donegal at all. I'm way down south in the glorious bit. Was on the list for last year though...maybe this year.
If you don't know Muff, Ummmm you haven't mixed with enough English people. It's just about the only Irish place they know! :-)
Gness, my dads sister, first born girl, has the same name as you.
Gness - I don't know many English people.
I actually stayed in Muff just the one night after cycling from Sligo to Letterkenny, I was curious. its basically across the border from Derry.
It was in the late 80s, it was quite small, it might have grown since then. Donegal is my fave county.
Donegal is beautiful. So is Tipperary :-)

I doubt many English people would believe it exists, they would think you were pulling their leg.
Roy at 22.35 - if you want to debate the issues of terrorists using their father as a shield, why not start a thread about it, rather than serve off the OP on this one.
That should be 'faith's not 'father' predictive text strikes again!!

I don't you made that up.

I always thought Guinness was the national religion of Ireland, and the Catholics and the Prods the local footy team. St Patrick the Tea-Shock, Paddy and Murphy the potato pickers, and the Nuns had their purses next when on a hen-do in Cork and never made it back to Blackpool. Seems my grandma may have been lying to me...
