Although I liked her I don't think she should have been made a dame. She was not in the same league as Peggy Ashcroft, Edith Evans, Flora Robson, Eileen Atkins, Maggie Smith etc. all of whom became dames for their superb acting skills.

Totally agree, JD. Of course, I don't believe anyone should become a dame or a knight or any other atavistic, imperial title, but that's a different argument.

he was a chef Tinks..they had a restaurant/pub together in Amersham but after that collapsed with the marriage she was left with a very big debt..her first husband was a playmate of the Kray twins..London Gangster
